Honestly I would ask around to family and friend and coworkers. If your shy about asking just talk about it with people some will be happy to give you something that's going unused..Most people have few items collecting dust ... Don't be too picky .... If you get a few unmatched wood end tables or a coffee table you can give them all a coat of white paint.... That will give them a matched fresh look ... shabby chic ! Or paint them all a black matte finish for a more modern look . A used couch that's decent can be hard to come by ... if you get offered a weird colored one you can use a cheap king size sheet to cover it ....you could try a thrift store or the salvation army Hey what about Craig's list ...nearer to the end of the month the better ... don't just look at ads place one yourself ! Be honest in your ad or be a little funny like say your looking to adopt some unloved lamps/ tables whatever ... some people are desperate at moving time to get rid of stuff!

I furnished my first apartment almost completely at yard sales and auctions, then replaced items one piece at a time when I could.

I kept some things, though. It's amazing what some paint can do to change the look of an item completely!

Ask your family and friends for any furniture they want to get rid of. Thrift stores. Pick up furniture people toss out. I got a chair several years ago that was worth several hundred dollars. I asked the guy tossing it out (he was washing his car) and he even put it in my car. It was an antique office chair that needed to be reholstered and a few screws to attach the base to the chair. I got a nice loveseat at a thrift store, just tossed a comfortor on it to make it look nice. We also got a nice chair at a garage sale about $5 about 15 years ago, still have it even!

If you need a sofa, go to a scarp yard and buy a back seat from a jaguar or a cadillac(summin expensive), fix them on something so theyre off the ground and voila you have a leather sofa for about £50.
