i recently adopted a doxcin puppy- hes a mini daschound. His color is very rare. Does anyone own a doxin can tell me a little bit more about them. I heard there more needy and want a lot of attention is this true? as the days go by i see he doesnt like staying alone for more then 30 min.

Oh yes, they are needy, and virtually impossible to potty train. I strongly recommend a friend for him. Companionship will ease the separation anxiety. I've had dachshunds before and they are awesome dogs, bred to kill badgers and hunt in burrows (I even saw a dachshund kill a Doberman one time by biting its neck). Toward humans they are loving and sweet--but you either get a barker, or a shrinking violet--rarely an in-between.

It's Dachshund. And they got their name because in German, it means badger dog...Dachs(badger) and Hund (dog)
They were used to hunt badgers.
What "rare" color is your dog. Usually when the term "rare" is used with coloring on a dog...it is just an unacceptable color, or fault in the show ring. And should not be sold for higher prices.
Oh..I see you said he is white with black spots. That's usually called dapple. But..you mention piebald on his head? Piebald is a term used to describe black and white patches of color on an animal..I dont think it has anything to do with your dog not having hair on top of it's head.
Here are some pics of Dapples and Piebald Dachshunds :

DACHSHUNDS are a high energy breed. They can be stubborn. They need proper firm training. They aren't needy nor do they require a lot of attention unless MADE that way by their owners.
The color of yours is called Dapple and it isn't rare. It is one of the breeds standard colors.
Dachshunds should not be allowed to jump up on things such as couches, beds, etc. Because of their long backs they can easily injure their backs. Dachshunds are also prone to epilepsy and certain cancers. They also are prone to eye problems, mainly cataracts Because of their deep chests they also are canidates for bloat.
They are funny and they are smart little dogs.

First of all, it's DACHSHUND. Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany for hunting badgers. That's what their name means: Dachs=Badger, Hund=Dog. I've never had one but have been around many of them and yes, they do seem to require a lot of attention. I work in a vet's office and most Dachsies that come through are very spoiled.

Any datsuns do not like to be alone. Smaller dogs seem to be more clingy than larger dogs.
Datsuns and daschaunds are the same. the only difference between your dog and a full sized datsun is the size.

D-a c-h-s-h-u-n-d.I'm sorry, but I get so tired of people spelling it d-o-x-c-i-n,or d-a-t-s-u-n! They are cute, though,I have a dachshund mix. What is the rare color? And ,yes, they love attention, cuddles and toys. And they like to bark and dig. They are good little dogs, though.Good luck with yours.
