What's up Vato! In my opinion, you want to get something that's going to last you a while. Go with a water bag Ringside.com has them, the best thing about them other than their durability is, it's easy on your hands, it actually feels like you're hitting a person to the body. I've had mine for close to 8 years now, considering what I paid for it you can't beat it.

Leather and vinyl bags can be easily repaired with duct tape like the guy mentioned above some bags can last up to twenty years with proper care. The only thing wrong with these bags is sometimes the sand (if you use sand) settles at the bottom of the bag and when you hit it, it feels like your hitting a brick wall. The water bags never settle. Good luck.

Partner you can't do any better than leather or a water filled bag. If you plan using a heavybag in your ongoing fitness program for years to come don't skimp on cost. Go with Ringside they are the best out there. You can find deals in a Ringside catalog they are always slashing prices. You can expect to spend anywhere between 100 to 120 bucks for a quality bag. You can also shop Ringside on the internet. Working out on the heavybag is the bomb! Have fun!

Vinyl will tear easily while leather will hold up a considerable amount of time longer. Definately go with the leather unless you've considered a water bag, which in my opinion is the best around.
