there is sort of a back-door draft going on where they can get people who are out of the military back in, even if they've already served their time. If a full draft starts, you will see a definite changing of feelings toward the war.

I'm not too fond of our present crop in government now. Instituting a full draft would probably remind people that governments have their own agendas, not always for the good of the people. At least not the way it runs now. The comment about recalling troops to active service was made. It's not a draft, it's part of the military contract. Part of your time is "deferred" as inactive reserve, which means you can be recalled to duty. It's usually 4 years active and 4 inactive. Hitch - the contract allows anyone who was military to be recalled until the age of 65 if the government deems it necessary.

America will never use the draft again. People wouldn't stand for it. Personally, I don't want my husband (AD Air Force) working side by side with some idiot who doesn't want to be there. A draft would just increase casualties. There are plenty of volunteers and no reason to go to a draft.

I think they should bring back the draft and whiner Republicans should be the 1st drafted!! No more outs for college, no more outs by joining the Guard, let us pay a million $ to teach you to fly, and then take off to Alabama to work on a campaign!!

I bet they would get a real kick out of the body bags then!

The first casulty of war is truth.

Those who don't like the war are spreading the same old "poor, black, young and stupid" stuff that was spread in the 1960's. Sadly, the anti-war crowd is stuck in the 1960's, and can see that their old "brightest and best" argument doesn't work outside of San Francisco.

I think you pretty much have to be able to read to be in the military.
