just multiply the side of the cube 3 times

Do you mean how do you calculate the cube of a number?

if so a^3 = axaxa

for a cube the area is LxBxW or XxYxZ=Total. (metres cubed)
careful when working with metres cubed as you cant subtract from metres squared (2 dimensions XxY) or Linear Metres (X)
(not easy to put symbols on this!!)
