The problem is, I can't pick a style or theme or whatever you want to call it. My walls were supposed to be painted lime green, but I picked a lighter shade than I thought so they're like a light lime green.
I love both classic rock :) and country music, & music is HUGE to me. I live in Kansas & I love it, I guess I'm a bit of a country girl. You could say I'm a tomboy.. So absolutely NO frilly or pink princess stuff. 2 of my favorite colors are red and black, but I don't know how to put those with green walls.
Oh and just a note: I have a dog and 3 cats, so a mainly black bedspread will turn into a gray/black/white/orange bedspread within minutes of putting it on my bed. :)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well. Light Lime Green Eh?..and Black?..Well, Black would look great with that. You're a country girl and you like classic rock. Very much like myself. I love country music it's my music but I also love some Zeppelin, Doors, and not that old of stuff like Metallica and Pantera. SO, I see where you're having your difficulties. And, Animals, Fur, Messes.lmao..Black is a good option. However, Sprucing up the whole room?

(Is a good example, there's a simliar green)
I think that wood for the furniture if you plan on getting knew with iron accents would be nice for the country side of ya. You can throw up some posters on your wall of your favorite bands. You can put up some black and white art/paintings on the wall. Or you can go with greens, blacks, browns, and other darker colors too.
But, If you're like me, not a girly girl but want something mature and that's gonna look clean get a nice dark rug to match your bed to even it out. Add random colors of the bed spread around.

yellow, white and black look good with lime green. for some reason circles of the these colors are coming to mind, like on the wall, say just one wall, in differnt sizes, with modern looking lamps, black furniture and yellow curtains and spread.

You should put up red curtains and a matching red bedspread. Use black for accents like painting a shelf, or get black photoframes for pics of your fav. musicians. You could put up a bullitan board and painthte border black with red polka dots and put pics of your fav. musicians on that.

She is purely attempting to get rid of crumbs. In our residing house, we eat the position ever we favor. i'm ingesting contained in the laptop room today and my husband is ingesting on a tray in the front of the television. We by no potential did the classic "dinner on the table" ingredient even as our son replaced into with us both except we had people over.

you could paint 2 of you walls black and the other 2 white. This will make a chic look. Next you could add lamps with fur around them. Your bedspred could be anything with black and white in it and it doesnt have to be mostley black. add black and white bins for storeage and posters that are black and white framed in black and you have a chic look!

Decorating a room is alot like writing a book - you may have all the ideas in the world but when it comes time to put them down on paper you get writer's block. It's the same with decorating sometimes. Let's look at your problem objectively:
It sounds like you just had your walls painted but are exactly thrilled with the color. First off, bravo for choosing color in the first place. So many of us get scared and go the off white route when decorating. Second, it sounds like you don't want to change the color of the walls just yet. So let's work with what you have and try to incorporate what you want into your room.
First, think personalization. This is your room and you want it to reflect you. Since you want to incorporate red and black into the room and your life revolves around the music you listen to, start with the walls. Search flea markets, yard sales, E-bay and other thrift outlets for vintage album covers. Search for your favorite bands and singers. Once you have a collection of 4 to 6 album covers you can go to Ikea, Pottery Barn, or Restoration Hardware (all .com shopping) for album cover frames. Alternate red and black frames to start incorporating that color scheme. Next mix in some hot vintage posters (available at Michael's or specialty poster shops or posters.com) Pick upscale designer posters (not necessarlity music) but a subject matter that speaks to you. Get inexpensive black poster frames and hang them alone or in groupings - small to large or anyway that speaks to you.
Once you get rolling with the wall are you can start thinking about your bed linens. Since you have the light lime green walls you don't want go crazy with the comforter itself, also you have the cat's and dog to think about. A duvet cover is probably the way to go since they are washable. Pick a moss, sage, or medium green color. Make sure to bring a paint chip from the color of the wall with you - you want to make sure the duvet cover is a complimentary color. Now - once you get the duvet cover it's all in the accesorizing: pick bold shams and accent pillows that coordinate with your art work on the walls. Next pick a dust ruffle that works with the pillows and sheets. Remember a bed anchors a bedroom so this will be the main focal point in the room.
Next - if you have a dresser, nightstands and/or an armoire or other furniture in your room (other than the bed) consider painting all of your furniture black. This may sound like an asian influence but if done right it wont be. This is really easy to do - at your local Lowes or Home Depot select a paint chip that is black. Make sure you get an Oil Based paint in Satin. Depending on how much paint you need depends on how much furniture you have but a little goes a long way. Make sure you lightly sand the furniture and always brush on the paint not roll it on. You will be stunned at how beautiful this technique looks and if you have mismatched furniture it pulls it all together.
Next up: window treatments. There are just tons of things that can be done here but here is a cool idea if you just love music (plus I know you love red and black) Buy two very inexpensive solid valances - one in red and one in black. But inexpensive curtain rods - one standard and one valence. Hang the red valence first and then the black one. When hanging the black valance use the valance length rod and hang it two inches above the red valance ( this will make the black valance look like it has a two inch red hem) Next buy a package of 15 blank recordable cds (cheap as you can find and in solid silver - not colored ones) Take fishing line and connect the cd's in any pattern you like (like a mobile) then attache it to the bottom of the valance (it's best to do several rows of fishing line so it takes up the entire window space) The light will bounce of the cd's and this makes for a cool window treatment. If that's too much for you just stick to the double valance idea.
Finally - Lighting! The key to any room is the lighting. You don't just want to rely on the overhead lighting. It is so harsh. Accent lighting is where it's at. Places like Target have such great modern lighting now. And your not just limited to standard table lamps. Look for lightboxes that have words and terms on them written in plexiglass to customize your room. You will be so surprised what 'mood' lighting will do for your room.
Here's a few extra hints: Don't be afraid to put down a throw rug in accenting colors even if it's ontop of another rug. Just buy a now slip pad to put under the throw rug.
Tired of the solid duvet or cats shedding too much - buy a colorful throw and cover up the duvet - it's easy and inexpensive to change over and over.
Make a point to make your bed everyday! It makes the entire room look freshened all the time.
Room look cluttered? But inexpensive plastic cubes with lids or baskets to organize everthing in - cheap but classy!
Splurge on artwork/framed posters - have the things around you that you love and you will feel good about yourself.
Small room - Large mirror! Make the room double in size buy hanging a mirror or two on opposite walls.
I hope that this help's you with your 'decorator's block' Nothing makes you feel more accomplished than having a great room to go to sleep in and wake up in.
Happy Decorating!
