We found each other on the computer and talk almost every night on the phone. Our personalities are so similar and he always makes me laugh. We've shared pictures and I think the physical chemistry is there, but I've not met him in person. I'm having "feelings" for him. We live 11 hours from each other and I really want to meet him. Has this happened to any of you?

Not totally - there is the intangible pull of attraction that is purely physical.

You don't have the complete picture - and that isn't a judgment based purely on appearance, but a fact. We are attracted for all sorts of reasons, and I speak from experience in being attracted physically to awful jerks and falling in love intellectually with men that I am not physically attracted to. None of these men were unattractive...one was actually similar in appearance to a very popular actor, my friends thought I was insane for breaking up with him - but the heart wants what it wants.

It's a pain, but that's the way it is. You have to meet. I hope it works out. You already have a good footing. I wish you luck that it does happen for you. Love is worth the risks and pain.

Yes it happens. I met a girl online and we really hit it off had a great time talking to each other. However when we met in real life things just were not the same and we are no longer chatting. I hope things work out better for you. Have fun but be careful.

long distance relationships are tricky and often result in failure. Some if not rarely people get the luck of the draw and end up with success. I always go by if you have no physicality(i.e. kissing, hugging, dating, etc...) then it is not worth the time nor the gas. I would go for someone closer to home. I ask you this question, are you willing to drive 11 hours everyday to see him? Is he willing to drive 11 hours to come see you everyday? If not then don't even bother.

My fiance and I met on line also and we live 2.5 hours from each other. I was very interested in meeting her and she me but I have to be honest and state that I did not nor do I believe that it is possible to fall in love with anyone this way. You have to meet face to face and get to know each other quite well before it is possible to say that you love the other in my opinion.

No, you can't fall in love with someone without seeing them and getting to know them in person. You have fallen for an image, and your imagination has filled in the blanks to suit your fantasy-- there's no physical chemistry because you haven't even been in his physical presence-- it's all based on your fantasy, not reality. For all you know, he could fart, have disgusting table manners, waitresses like dirt, have road rage, etc. etc. You don't know him and believing you are "in love" with a stranger is dangerous. Your fantasy has filled in what you don't know, so you will not be able to see the truth about him.

this happened to a friend at work. she says she loves him, he says he loves her. but it's so easy to make up who you are. like she gets so upset when he breaks up with her, yet she is cheating on him anyway. i think you can have feelings for someone sure, but not fall in love with them until you really know who they are. or at least try not to. things are not always what they seem. and sometimes they do work out like all those testimonials on match.com. i believe it can work out but you have to meet someone first.

Sounds exciting and I'm sure it does happen, but you should definitely meet before too much longer.
