It occasionally made people sick before we learned about trichinosis, and how to prevent it. So it was declared "unclean", and unfit to eat, because religious leaders thought it was necessary to protect people from themselves.

Pork meat goes off quicker in hot climates and as there was no (reliable) refrigeration during biblical times in the Middle East , banning port meat was the most pragmatic solution.
Nowadays secular Jews eat pork with no discernible ill effects.

Because pigs are prone to worms and in olden days they were not always great at cooking pork at proper temperatures needed for safe consumption. Banning the meat improved "public health" and using God as the reason provided the needed authority.

It is forbidden to Muslims, Jews and Christians(but Christians don't follow that verse in the Bible)

Here is why in Islam

Pork is haraam and it is not permissible to eat it, whether it is the meat, fat or any other part, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maitah (the dead animals — cattle — beast not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine[al-Maa’idah 5:3]

The Muslims are agreed that all parts of the pig are haraam. Allaah has forbidden it because of the harmful things it contains and because it is impure, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘I find not in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be Maitah (a dead animal) or blood poured forth (by slaughtering or the like), or the flesh of swine (pork); for that surely, is impure…”[al-An’aam 6:145]

Its meat is a disease, and the more people advance in knowledge, the more new diseases they discover, because of pork consumption.

The pig is a scavenger and cant change his skin like the snake.

Th pig on the farm or the farm nearby is responsible for mad cow disease and anthrax among other terrorists acts.

The pig meat on the table is responsible for obesity and heart disease and cancer and high blood pressure and all the the terrorist activities that the medical profession and the farmers wont tell you.

One advantage of pig's meat is that it is best for feeding slaves.
