Centrifugal Force Driving

2016-11-02 00:24:46 · answer #2 · answered by roblerogonzalez 4 · 0 0

Centrifugal force only happens when you turn, making a circle motion. When a vehicle is traveling around a curve, so that it is changing direction all the time, centrifugal force tends to push the vehicle in a straight line away from the curve. In other words, it pushes outwards on the body away from the curve. An opposite force called centripetal force supplied by the friction between the tires and the roadway, is also in play. if the centrifugal force is greater than the centripetal force, the vehicle will not turn and will not stay on the roadway.

Changes direction... think of it in NASCAR terms.. this is why on shorter tracks, the drivers have to let off and actually brake to go thru the turns.. centrifugal forces tries to make the car go straight. The friction of the tires on the track keep the car turning, but when the centrigugal force exceeds the tire's ability to hold the track, it's straight into the wall...

Actually centrifugal force works in all three instances to a certain degree.

I would think that's correct. actually the force is applied to the driver, not the vehicle.
