Being myself a model in Paris, I just wanted to react about the death of Ana Carolina Reston, a bresilian model, because of anorexia.
So to all models i want to say that they should take care of themselves. We know, even if we deny it, that we are minding very carefull what we're eating (even starving sometimes). And we're pushed to do so because of the high competition in castings. But there is no end to weight loss.. well, no, there is one: death. Perhaps should we take distance with the fashion standards, and act so that skinny would not be directly related with beauty.

The sad thing is the industry preys on young women's self image and bullies them into believing the thinner they are, the more beautiful they are and the more successful they will be. All women (model and non-model) should come together and say enough is enough. Why are fashion designers dictating what a woman's body should be like? They are the ones who want us to buy their clothes, we should be telling them what's acceptable. The fashion industry may consider Ana's death an isolated case but there are tens of thousands of women out there trying desperately to be like Ana and they are starving themselve's too. Ana is not an isolated case she just happen to be in the limelight and that's why we know her story, but there are many others.

The madness needs to stop.

People come in all sizes and shapes and no size is unattractive because everyone has there own tastes. Just like some people are naturally overweight some people are naturally thin. And naturally thin and exercising to get to a size you like it okay, but starving yourself to fit some ideal in not worth it. As you can see it can have dire consequences.

I agree, and the fact is, skinny isn't beauty, skinny is grotesque looking. Its time for people to just be themselves, and if someone can't accept you for who you are, then they are not worth it. Not everyone is meant to be skinny.
