Some people have found success with cleansing while trying "cold turkey." If you get the built-up toxins out of your system more quickly it may help reduce your withdrawal systems. AND, once you "clean yourself out" it will be less desirable to start smoking again since you'll be "dirtying" yourself up again after doing the work involved in cleansing and feeling so much better overall.
I've personally used the bowel cleansing system called the Cleansing Trio produced by Young Living and been very pleased with the results. It's also advisable you do a liver cleanse. I haven't specifically used the liver cleanse products by YL so I can't say one way or the other about them. There's lots of cleansing kits, but if you're interested in the one I've tried you can find it at their official web site www.youngliving.org.
I wish you well in your endeavor.

i read this one at yahoo health earlier.. hope this would help you.
Cigarette smoking, and even smoking cigars or a pipe, is one of the greatest risk factors for a heart attack as well as for stroke, lung cancer, and emphysema.
To stop smoking:
Set a quit date. Smoking cessation is most successful when it's done "cold turkey," not slowly by reducing the number of cigarettes smoked daily.
Throw them out. Throw away all cigarettes and matches at home, in your car, and at work. Put away ash trays and lighters.
Share your goal. Tell your family and friends you're quitting and ask for their support.
Avoid triggers. Avoid alcohol, coffee, and other triggers for smoking.
Set a no-smoking policy. Do not allow anyone to smoke in your home or car, and avoid other people when they are smoking.
Get tools. Take advantage of the available stop-smoking aids: nicotine replacements, drug therapy, and counseling. Less than 1 in 10 smokers can quit without some help. Nicotine gums, skin patches, and lozenges are available over the counter. Nicotine nasal sprays and inhalers require a prescription from your doctor. Don't smoke when using these products.
Get a prescription. Bupropion (Zyban) and varenicline (Chantix) are two prescription-only medications that may help you quit. Start taking one of these drugs shortly before your quit date.
Join a support group. Find a source of individual or group counseling. Counseling alone can be helpful, but it is particularly useful in combination with nicotine replacements or smoking cessation drugs.
Call the Quit Line. Call the National Cancer Institute Smoking Quit Line if you need more help. Their toll-free number is 1-877-44U-QUIT.

First of all, you have to want to stop and if you aren't ready, it's not going to work. Then you need a plan. Set a date to quit. When I quit, I used the step 2 patch for 1 week just to take the edge off. You really don't need it any longer than that because the nicotine is out of your body in about 3 days. after 3 days it's more psychological than physical. You need to keep your hands busy. I did a lot of crossword puzzles when I quit. Take long walks. Taking deep clean breaths of air helps. Keep a lot of munchies on hand.
Good luck! I haven't had a smoke in almost 3 years. You will not believe how much better you will feel.

Hi,
Great post! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and I thought I wasn't addicted!
Here's what I tried before finding success: hypnosis, those fake cigaretts, the nicotine patch, and group therapy....none worked.
I finally tried this HERBAL patch I bought 6 months ago on the net. They claim a 97% success rate. Well, it worked! They had a sweet deal which was a free 10 day trial for only $3.95 including shipping (it's regularly $53 for 10 days)!!
I don't know if they still have that deal, but it's worth a try.

really the best way to stop smoking would be quiet cold turkey and take on other habits such as working out, ect. then if you get a craving replace it with gum or some type of mint. i found that gum is better because u stay chewig then u stop think about it trust after two days u whont even like the smell of cigarets.

I did it with the step down patches --they were kind of expensive, but that was 9 years ago so I have saved hundreds of $$ more than I spent on the patches. It was a 12 week program, but I was afraid that if I quit using them I would start smoking agin, so I used the last level for an extra 4 weeks. I hope it works for you!!
Also, I cut plastic straws into cigarette lengths and chewed the heck out of them!! My husband said I wouldl probably end up with cancer from swallowing plactic more than from smoking! ;-)

Go get some nicotine gum and suckers.Let me tell u how I quit. I found out after 35 yrs of smoking that I had a temor in my lung.It was cancer and my lower lung had to be removed. Then radiations and now it has been 5 yrs and they say I am safe. These are the things I used.Plus I did alot of praying for strength to do this. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But the good news is that after a yr of not smoking I never wanted another one.Smoke makes me sick.I wish u all the luck.If u don't want to do it for yourself then think of your love ones.

I joke that everytime i put my cigarette out, "I just quit, see! It ain't so hard!" But then I start again between 1-4 hours later....only for a few minutes though, and then I "quit" again. Man, I've quit smoking more times than a bunch of people I know!
I went "cold turkey" for 10 days, and then I was either gonna KILL my boss or I was gonna go smoke and cry.....I smoked and cried, and havn't been able to quit since.

Stop buying cigarettes. Seriously. It takes effort to go buy cigarettes - just stop. It's hard to quit smoking, not hard to stop buying.
