There are plenty of no kill shelters around the United States. Look up the nearest no-kill shelter and take it there.

There are plenty of no kill shelters, just get out the yellow pages and start looking. Anyway since it is a puppy it does have a greater chance of being adopted. As for feeding it, you could buy some puppy food and offer it to the puppy a few times a day and only let it eat as much as it will eat in 2 to 3 minutes, since you said you found it the puppy has probably not eaten in a while which is probably why he vomited. If youy are not going to keep the pup you really should take him to some kind of shelter so he can be thoroughly checked by a vet.

try 2 put an ad in the paper.
example: found puppy near (list where u found it).
(list if it is a boy or girl) and put ur number where they can reach u
and 2 feed a puppy. the puppy needs puppy food. give it iams puppy food. read the directions on the can. if no one answers on ur ad, call the pound the pound will keep it for 10 days if no one claims it, either u can have it or someone will come by the pound and adopt it. i had found a puppy not 2 long ago. i knew it's owners but they didn't care about the puppy. so i called the pound explaning about the puppy. i kept it in my yard with food and water. and oh my god u should've seen him, he acted like he never been fed or he never had a drink of water. when the pound came to my house to pick up the puppy, i cried cause i can't see how people can't care enough about their dogs. the pound had put a note on the owner's door to let them know that they have their dog and that they can come and pick it up, and if not someone will adopt ur puppy. well a few weeks went by, and i didn't see (rocky) the puppy in their yard. i called the pound to check upon the dog, and they said that somebody already had adpoted them. they said what i did was right, and for what i did the puppy has a new home, that somebody will take care of. the owner's say that i can come over whenvea i wanted to, to come and visit rocky.

Throwing up could be because it can't digest dry dog food. Sounds like it's still pretty young, so this could be perfectly normal. Newly weaned puppies can be fed a "mash" which is typically made of blended dry dog food and condensed milk, (the kind that comes in a can, like Carnation).
It could also be something like worms...or maybe just an upset stomach. Who knows when it ate last?
If you're not ready to be a dog owner, you're kind of limited. You can put a "found" ad in the local newspaper - maybe someone is looking for him. This may take a couple of weeks. If you're looking for an immediate solution, the local humane society is pretty much it. Check around though, depending on where you live you should be able to find a "no-kill" dog shelter.
Good luck!

I found a pup running loose in my neighborhood once. I think people drop them of when they don't want them. Horrible people! Anyhow, I took it in and called everyone I knew until I nagged someone to take it. : ) It grew up healthy and happy. I couldn't keep it because I already had 2 dogs. Don't feed the pup too much because they don't know when to stop. Get a bag of dry puppy food. Feed it just a little (about half to one cup 3 times a day if you can.) Don't forget water. You sure you don't want it? It will love you like nobody else ever will. You sound like a nice person. If you really don't want to keep it how about your local Humane Society. They try to find homes for animals. Mary and Misty have good advice too.

put an ad in the paper offering the dog to a good home when giving the dog away check the people out to see if they and the dog get along to avoid returns. you can buy puppy chow at the store and mix it with the finer chopped moist dog foods. take the dog to the vet to make sure it don't have parvo. the vet may also be willing to help you find the dog a home where he will be wanted and cared for.

try giving him some cooked chicken breast (NO BONES). Look after while you have hima nd in the mean time put ads in the trading post, at the local vets and maybe inform the RSPCA just incase his owners go looking for him there. Take him down to the vets to see if he has a microchip, as this will provide a direct connection with his owners. Make sure it goes to a good family if someone adopts it.

Contact the nearest vet and see if they will take the puppy in. They may give you other options for humane shelters. Explain you found the dog and you do not wish to keep it or care for it...and that it won't eat.

Take it to the Humane Society, since it is a puppy, there is good chance it will get adopted. It's the older dogs that usually get passed up for adoption and get put down.
