There is a lost bit of info. The monster that is in a thunder storm is because of a small bit of energy that happens when water is evaporated. for each cc that is evaporated there is a refrigerant effect and 60 calories of heat is absorbed. So as the moist air collects and slams into a cold front all the water in cc is condensed and millions of cc are condensed there is a tremendous release of energy. If it is too sudden the updraft can turn into a tornado.
