A stye, which is a plugged tear duct . She needs to use a warm washcloth (a clean one each time) and press gently. It could also be dried out tear ducts, if that is the case she should get eye drops.
A stye will go away in a couple of days. If not, see a doctor.

It sounds like either a stye or an ingrown eyelash. If it is swollen on the line below the eye where the eyelashes are, then that's probably what it is. Use heated compresses to help with the pain and swelling.
If the pain is actually in the gland in the corner of the eye where it meets the nose, it would probably be a clogged or infected tear duct. If that is the case, then she definitely needs to go to the doctor.
It is also possible that she got something small in her eye and blinking caused it to go down between the eyeball and the lower lid. You can buy saline solutions at any drugstore that are sterile and made to use to flush out the eye area if you want to try that before going to the doctor.

she should see an Ophthalmologist (a medical doctor who specializes in eye problems- different from an Optometrist) she may have a chalazion-a clogged oil gland on the eyelid or it may be a stye (2different things) which involves the oil glands and hair follicles warm compresses a few times a day will help with the pain and infection, but she probably needs an antibiotic drop like I said she should see and Ophthalmologist

That's not a gland, that's a sinus. Sinus congestion can cause pain all around the eyes. Tear ducts are also located in the lower eyelids, and they can also become painful if they are irritated. Your mother could try placing a warm, damp compress over her eyes, or she could go to the doctor.

It sounds like sinusitis - does your mom have allergies? Other then that, I suggest she sees an Ophthalmologist, but I don't think its her eyes. I think your mother has allergies, and she has blocked sinuses. Only a guess, and she should know herself. Good Luck.
