Do you find they serve too much wine? I drink wine almost everyday, hubby and I share a bottle with dinner 2.5 glasses each. At these wine dinners they serve 5 or 6 wines, a 4 ounce glass from each one in nearly a whole bottle. I have to go because of my work, but holy cow I can't drink that much and not get tipsy and often they refill a glass for you.

5-6 wines should mean 5-6 courses (that's been my experience anyway). To pace myself, I would only ask for a taste so that I can enjoy it paired with the course. Only when I really like the wine do I ask for a glass...otherwise, I stick to the 1-2 oz taste servings. Enjoy!

Just ask for less wine or say you don't want anymore.
You don't have to drink the whole glass.

I used to go, but because they gave away too much wine for tasting I stopped going. Also I got bored with all their comments like "fruity oakey taste" "touch of cinnamon in there" "this wine tastes of old barrels and pineapple" etc.

I have been to these types of dinners/events in the napa and sonoma areas, and one thing one of my winemaker clients told me...it is OK to just have a taste and it is perfectly fine to pour it out. That is what the buckets are for. They want you to enjoy the experience and remember it tomorrow. They will not be offended.

I love these events, but damn they can be expensive! They are sooooooooo fun, and the food is usually delish! Just tell the waiter to not give you a refill, or give it to your hub :) Have fun and a glass for me.
