I've had my cat for about 5 -7 years now and only in the last two or three years, he had gotten this problem where after he eats something, he pukes it back up. I have to feed him very small amounts but at times, even if I feed him a little throughout the day, he still pukes up liquid. I also have to stop him from eating my dog's food, too. He'll sit at his food table and meow all day for food, even if I fed him previously. Please tell me a way to fix this?

Actually I have the exact same problem with my cat. My male cat, Tom, has been vomiting after almost every meal for the last 2 years. I took him to the vet and the said he was constipated. He stayed at the vet over night and the gave him enemas and said he was all clear (so to speak). Anyway, they said other than being overweight (21 lbs.) he should be fine. Well, he still does it. I've just learned (like you) to feed him a little bit 2 times a day. It's almost like he's a bulimic, I put the food down and he binges and almost each it all with a minute or so and then he vomits. He doesn't do it near as often as he used too but I guess my answer to your question is feed the cat less. Taking mine to the vet didn't help. (BTW-my cat is 9yrs old) Also, stay with the same food cats have finicky stomachs.

It could be because she is eating too fast. Most cats will vomit when eating too fast especially and I know this is gross if it looks mostly like it did before it went down. Also, if she is playing right after eating I think this can cause her to get nauseated and throw up. You might want to call a vet to make sure. If she seems fine this is probably the problem. I would try taking the food and giving it to her only at certain times.

You need to go to the vet with this one. There could be blockage in the form of a tumor it the throat or else where. Obviously he is eating something and keeping it down but if it is getting progressively worse you need to go to the vet. He may have teeth problems or a tooth problem. It is not normal for a cat to vomit after eating unless hes had grass.

Firstly I recommend a veterinary exam just to rule out anything serious. Vomiting bile only can be a sign of disease, especialy kidney failure. Once any major health concerns are ruled out, I would change his diet. I have a cat just like yours: very greedy, and very pukey. I have limited the amount of food he eats and I give him a type of food called Hill's Prescription Diet I/D. It's available through the vet clinic and is especially designed for those cats prone to gastro-intestinal problems.

My cat tends to vomit after I feed her also but for different reasons, she inhales her damn food!

My best suggestion is go to the vet, your cat probably has intestional probles, cats can also get GERT so you may want to ask about that. He may also have some slight poisoning, b/c cats eat almost any plant/foreign object in the house. He may be getting into something that you don't know of. Good luck!

I would think that after a couple of weeks of him doing that you would have taken him to the vet. But anyway, if you're giving him canned food, it could be that it's too rich for him. Give him small amounts of dry food. No table scraps, either. I would also take him to the vet. He could have an obstruction in his stomach.

He may have a blockage in his stomach or intestinal tract that is keeping him from fully digesting his food -- so it comes right back up again.

Get your cat to a vet and have him checked out; this isn't something you can "fix" without the vet's expertise and assistance.

Of course it's not normal! The acid from your cat's stomach can do permanent damage to his esophagus.

You need to consult a vet and maybe start finding out if he is allergic to corn or chicken in his food.

it is not normal. switch food brands, science diet is really good. Also consult a veterinarian. Instead of constantly leaving food out feed him 3 times a day. Eventually he will get used to it and stop begging for food. seclude your animals eating quarters.good luck!

Now, if it was just every once in a while, I'd say that kitty probably has hairball problems.
However, consistantly vomiting after eating is not normal.
I would strongly suggest a visit to your veterinarian as soon as possible. Note any other problems or any unusual behaviors (drinking more, less, same level? lethargic? active or just laying around? urinating/pooping normally?)
