I recently moved into a house and have 2 dogs. The neighborhood is FULL of cats. Anyways, I have a large backyard with high fences and my dogs live out there, and they just happen to HATE cats. They love people and other dogs but just despise cats and almost stalk them in my back yard. They have killed 5 and I see more out there. My neigbors are getting angry and saying my dogs are dangerous. What should i do?

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality,

If your story is true, I would say that you should do nothing at all. I do not know where you live, but in the UK your dog can do in your property whatever it wants, if a cat trespasses into your property, your dog has the right to kill it, and the cat owner has no right to tell you a word about it.

It is nature, full stop.

There are few cats that would not kill birds, or any smaller animals, and even rabbits, and some kill 5 a day. Cats can be insiduous nuissance to other people, especially to bird lovers, and most cat owners refuse to control their cats altogether. Not to say about the damage they cause to gardens which they enter uninvited, by urinating on plants, digging holes, breaking branches and small garden furniture, in pursuit of a kill.

People are unfair to dogs. If a dog does something once in a while that a cat does all the time, it is described as "dangerous". But the same thing is o.k. from a cat.

Now, from the spiritual point of view: Believe or not, the dog is our closest spiritual relative. Not a wonder we call him our best friend. The dog's is an advanced Soul amongst animals, and the absolute majority of dogs are good Souls, carrying positive energy. The majority of cats carry negative energy.

Traditionally, some cultures considered cats for spiritual animals. This was due to their independence and instincts.

Those people who blindly take to cats, usually share with them their traits: selfishness and cunning.

Tell your neighbours to keep their cats off your property, and if they will not, it is at their risk when they enter. Your dogs are at home, the cats are not.

It is your backyard, the cats should be smart enough to stay out. I am an animal lover, although I do not put them before people. The neighbors need to control their own animals, it is not your responsibility. If your dogs were running loose and terrorizing the cats, that would be different. This is very black and white. Perhaps your dogs are dangerous, but they are in their own territory and under control, right? Be careful, your neighbors might poison your dogs, people have been know to do that. I personally have two dogs, and they live indoors, (one is huge), for thier own safety, plus I really enjoy their company.

Good Luck!!

Buy some cat repellant and put it on the outside line of your fencing. Then, if cats persist in coming over the fence and get eaten by your dog, call it natural selection and tell your neighbors to control THEIR pets, not worry about yours.

WTF is it with people? Their cat has the right to tresspass on your property but your dog doesnt have the right to be a dog and protect his area?? ridiculous!

And for the record, Im a cat person!

If the cats are killed on your outdoor then i do no longer think of so i'm unsure. yet i do no longer understand why cats would pass in a fenced in backyard with canines that looks unusual. if the cats are killed outdoors your fence you and your canines are in some worry. frequently cats won't pass close to canines.

If they come into your yard, then you are not responsible. I have a dog that kills mice. The other day he killed one and brought it inside. Then he doesn't want anyone to touch it or take it away from him. I almost have a heart attack. I cleaned his mouth with soap.

You should be in control of you dog every minute. One of those cats could have been a baby. Would you ask the same question then? The dog is your responsibility.

I hate for any ones pet to be harmed,However it is your responsibility to keep your dogs on your property. You have done this with your fence. It is your neighbors responsibility to keep their cats on their property. Depending on how rude your neighbors have been, you could post a sign saying "Please keep your cats off my property"

if your dogs are killing these cats on your property then it isn't your fault the neighbors need to keep their cats out of your yard!
