Exodus 20:4 & 5
So that leads to the questions......
why do so many places of worship ignore this command?
and is God pleased with this practise?

In Exodus 20 vs 2 & 3 it talks about not worshipping other gods than God.
In Exodus 20 vs 4 &5 it talks about not making carved images and not bowing down to them.
They are part of the ten commandments.

Exodus 20. It is when the LORD God spoke the 10 commandments to the people. Then He wrote the 10 commandments with His own finger on two slabs of stone. Old testament.
Jesus simplified the 10 commandments. He said to love the LORD God with all your heart mind soul & strength, and to love others as your self and to do to others as you would have them do to you. Do this and fulfill all the commandments. New Testament Gospels.

Exo 20:4 Do not make idols that look like anything in the sky or on earth or in the ocean under the earth.
Exo 20:5 Don't bow down and worship idols. I am the LORD your God, and I demand all your love. If you reject me, I will punish your families for three or four generations.

The original God or the god of love or in the beginning was the word and the word was god are advanced concepts and the 'idol' thing is very primitive. But it has been used forever. What is your God form, concept or being. Do you speak to your invisible grandfathers. Why not? If you want to get real, keep trying and God will truly answer you. It is for some to receive and for others to believe. You decide how real you want God to be. Your life can never change after you choose. I have found very few females who get very far.

"What am I, Paul, saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? But, I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons."
