I asked a question earlier about "Does Wicca have gods?" the answer was yes all around. The results of the question pretty much gave two answers on which gods.

1st Answer type: Wicca can call upon gods from celtic lore, the greek pantheon, the Hindu pantheon, Norse, you name it.

2nd Answer type: A God and a Goddess, typically symbolized by the sun and the moon. They are usually referred to as "The God" and "The Goddess". They are equally important, however most of the focus tends to be on the Goddess.

So is one answer right, the other wrong, or are both right?

If one is wrong, is there any text which would outline that it is wrong. If they are both right, no need to show the text.

Most of the Wiccan faith is timed against the seasons and the phases of the moon. Certain castings work better during a waxing moon for instance, and some charms should only be attempted during a full moon. In this way the Sun and moon, or whatever you want to call them (Luna and Sol, Mother Moon and Father Sun) are central. Other gods play more specific roles, such as calling on Isis for the crafting of a protection amulet. There isn't really an official line on this though.
Wicca is somewhat of a hodgepodge religion (no matter what the gals in your local coven tell you). Despite its wealth of stories and texts, it really doesn't have any set in stone rules. Some people are book Wiccans, and thier oppinion on the faith will stem entirely from their chosen authors oppinions, some are proper witches, who will usually be the ones writing the books (and throwing in a good dash of their own interpretation along the way) and some are angsty teenages who think that blood and chanting can kill someone. This is what makes Wicca a rather unusual faith, it's almost entirely up to the individual what methods to use/deities to favour.
So, long answer short, they are both correct answers, and neither is correct.

They are both right. There are several branches of Wicca that differ in God/Goddess structure. Some believe in the God and Goddess and some simply believe in one Goddess or a Triple Goddess who personifies the Maiden, Mother and Crone. Some have an large pantheon of gods and goddesses. You would be hard pressed to find two Wiccans who believe the exact same thing.

Hope this answers your question.

Many Wiccans best worship privately. Some attend open circles, that are public parties which might be held in a kind of places, ordinarily public parks. Members of covens train anywhere the coven comes to a decision to train, that is individual. Often this can be a member's house. Wicca does now not have a suite quantity of deities. Various Wiccans comply with unique deities founded upon to whom they're in my view attached.

They are both right. The main deities are the Goddess and The God (Mother Nature and Father Sky amongst other names) however a Pagan/Wiccan in this case can identify himself or herself with an ancient deity from ancient time.
To me I identify strongly with Egyptian deities, but to me they represent aspects of humanity (rather than being mythical beings you cant see). Again, to me personally, the Goddess and God are Nature. I do not believe in supreme beings watching over us in the typical religious sense. Although I do believe in unseen forces. But Wicca is one of those religions where the beliefs of each individually can differ slightly, so although this is the answer for me it may not be for some!

I hope that helps!

"The God" and "The Goddess" are titles that are used when Wiccans talk about their deities to those who are not initiated. Wicca is an initiatory, mystery religion and things like the specific names of their deities are kept confidential.

They're both right.

Wiccans percieve that all Gods are One. That though people may see different facets of Deity, it's all one Being. So whether you call It by "Lord and Lady," "The God and Goddess," Brahma, Jesus, Mohamed, Moses or Bob, God is who you make it.
