If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

Obsolutely NOT! - Persons suffering from "multiple personalities" ,2 or more - are in constant internal turmoil. See a doctor immediately, go to a mental health clinic, get help, either for yourself or your friend. This is serious, and if the "personality" attempting to or saying they are "going to kill themselves" - they WILL. If your a FRIEND - get help,immediately!

A person with true split personalities will never subconsiously want to hurt his other people inside him, unless he has low seritonin or is drugged or something.
The risk is very low indeed.

nope, to be or have a hostage, requires PHYSICAL presence, not mental or emotional presence.
