I think both are important ... it's important that you are attracted to his personality, but there also needs to be some kind of physical attraction otherwise the relationship is not going to move forward very well.

I think the world is bcoming more and more influenced by looks, and everyone is expecting more and more.

Even in countries like India where i recently spent some time, a country so poor where there are thousands of beggers and slums has stunning girls on bill boards and on tv advertisements.

Men now have to be well groomed, things are changing with every generation and younger women will no longer accept the flat unshaven fat bloke who sits drinking beer in front of the tv all day.

Plastic surgery is going through the roof and not just for women, it's a huge industry that's going to get bigger as people all strive to an unrealistic image of perfection.

In most cases looks do matter, personally I would be more turned off by a girl that didnt take care of her self. We are not talking about going to the gym every day, but things like....bathing and having oral hygene. Just keeping yourself clean. And yes the larger women are less attractive and appealing than the smaller ones. But personaly if a girl takes care of herself and has a nice personality it wouldnt matter as much or if at all. Then again most men will state a preferance, but its like coke and pepsi. Most men will take whatever is on tap.

Looks definatly matter, people who say they don't are either lying or ugly. Sorry! When you look at someone and you see how they look first. Now, you can be average or below average looking but, if you take care of yourself and carry yourself well that is better than just having good looks. You can see a gorgeous person and your first thought is how beautiful they are. But, when you talk to them and that person has no depth it makes them less attractive. So in the end it is the whole package that leads you to decide whether this person is one you would like to spend time with. In the beginning though, it was their looks that drew you to them.

If you're an attractive female, I pity you. You will only attract the most egotistical and brainless of "Alpha males." You're doomed to that level of intellectual mediocrity. If a woman is intelligent and attractive, she'll always be surrounded by insistent morons.

If you're an attractive guy, you'll probably use it to your advantage and pull as many women as possible. I do think however, that intelligent and attractive men will require a girl of more intelligence, possibly at the sacrifice of beauty.

If you're not as attractive, you'll probably make up for it in other areas.

If you close you eyes and talk to your partner, what goes through your mind? Do they make you laugh? Do you like spending time with them? Are they the love of your life? If they are, then when you open your eyes, you should see the most beautiful person in the world standing in front of you.

If you don't, then maybe your issue is more in line with worrying about what other people think as opposed to this person not being attractive. Beauty is what each person makes it, but if your perception is changed based on what other people think, then maybe you're not worthy of that person's love.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

They shouldn't count...but they do!

Having said that, I get really surprised at what I find physically attractive in a person, just because I like their personality.

It never seems to work the other way though, if I don't like their personality I go off the looks pretty darn quickly!

Ok look matter. Before a good relationship can happen physical attraction is the biggest part of it. You need the looks to get in the door per say. Once you get in its easy sailing.

yes they do - birds of a feather flock together. Attraction studies in psychology show that our partners tend to be of a similar level of attraction as ourselves (typically voted by others). THere are other theories but most tend to show that attractive people have better genes and so on.

My personal theory is that we'll be attracted to the most physically attractive person in the room regardless of if you're in a relationship or not.
