I've been dating my boyfriend for about 3 and a half months. He asked me to be his girlfriend and he told me he loved me first. The only reason I'm not sure is because he has this ex, who he dated for 3 years, that he broke up with about a month before we started dating. I know they're very close (they talk a lot) even though he's about a 1000 miles away from her now. He says he's not in love with her anymore, but the other night (i'll admit he was drunk) after a party, he texted her "i luve you." He's going home for winter break, and he'll see her. He and I spend a lot of time together (we see each other everyday because we have class together). He's even coming home with me for Thanksgiving. Besides the ex factor, everything is great. I just feel intimidated by her, and I wonder if he can really love me while still maintaining a close friendship with her. What do you think?

First off - he said he's been out of love with her for a while, but didn't break it off because they were living together and he knew he was leaving for school in a few months anyway (i.e. he didn't have time to find a new place).

Second - I don't look like her at all (except that she's also a brunette). She weighs 160lbs and is 5'2" and I weigh 115lbs and am 5'4".

if this girl is his first LOVE it is VERY HARD to let go, trust me! You have trust him and put your faith in his words that he loves you for real. They shared many deep thoughts together and its like trying to break your first piggy bank, very hard to do bhut eventually you break it cause of what u need out of it.

let him work it out on his own however 1 red flag is that if she looks a lot like you, then it means he was trying to replace her with a copy cat. If this is true leave him because its not over with his ex!!

good luck

Sounds like he might have some unresolved feelings for her. It usually takes someone longer than one month to get over a person they have dated for three years. Rebound relationships are tricky. It sounds like you two need to discuss your levels of commitment to the relationship. Start dialogue and see where it takes you.

Sounds to me like he is still holding onto someone that he loved and still does, for it's hard to get over something that big over one month's time, but seeing that you're closer... I mean, I don't think he LOVES you... but I think he might like you a great deal.
