Most people I know say that they can feel God's presence when they pray, I never have... Should I be worried?

God always listens. His answers vary. Sometimes it's yes. Sometimes it's no. Sometimes it's wait.

About feeling the presence of God when you pray - how are you praying. Prayer should be a conversation with God, not a wish list. Please read the Lord's Prayer - it is a blueprint on how to pray. Sit in silence and don't talk - part of conversation is listening to the other person. Read the Bible - it is His word to you.

I don't always feel all goosepimply and/or happy when I pray - but I do feel His calming presence when I need it.

Love and peace to you.

God hears the prayers of the righteous. Most of the amazing answers to prayers that I have experienced...had no feeling whatsoever with it. Feelings have nothing to do with faith in God. It is better to love God without expecting any kind of feelings in return. Those that follow after feelings can be easily decieved, because many things can give off feelings.

Recently, I came out of a Charismatic type of faith that is oh so popular right now. After years of being decieved by this feeling and that vision and this whatever, I left. I am now Eastern Orthodox Christian. A faith not based on feelings.

By the way, the prayers of the righteous avail much, so, live the best life you can, and God will hear you.

Pray is a two-way conversation - you talk God listens, then you listen and let God talk. Now, enjoy quality time with God, because we are always in His presence.

No. It is of great worth to be able to pray and believe without evidence. It only counts you very worthy. Your time will come that you too will say I feel the presences. This feeling is not as important as your faith. When people place this feeling above faith then they fall when they do not have the feeling.

It's not so much about is God listening, but have you learned how to pray to God? Jesus gave an example of how to pray in what is now called "The Lord's Prayer." He starts by acknowledging that God is revered (hallowed be thy name), prays for the important things (thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven), the necessary things (give us this day our daily bread... notice that He doesn't specifically ask for fish, Sir Loin steak, or lobster... lol), asks forgiveness for sins (forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors), asks for guidance (lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil), then acknowledges that God is the ruler and the power and gives Him the glory. (for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory). Amen, by the way, means "So be it."

No,and further more, don't fall for the trick where your prayers aren't answered right away or not answered at all.The devil's agenda is not to drag believers into hell,or get us killed. It is to embarrass us.To get us disqualified in the eyes of the world. No one,not even a preacher, deacon, trustee,or Sunday school teacher is safe from the traps and snares of the devil.

Remain solid and unmoving in your faith.Be the salt of the earth that is asked of you.Win souls to Christ.Have grace.

Peace be unto you.

Does prayer work? Hundreds of millions prayed for God to stop Hitler before he killed 30+ million during WWII. Considering the success of their efforts, God is either powerless, heartless, both, or does not exist at all.

I wouldn't be too concerned. It's a matter of faith. You have to have faith that God is listening. And keep in mind that just because you pray for something, doesn't mean you'll get it. Many Christians tell me that this is because God has other plans.

Hello fellow seeker, I used to be worried by that feeling too. I always tried to get close to "god" but never felt like I actually was, so I started asking questions, and kept at it until I realized that no one really knew the answers, and "god" didn't come down or send an angel to talk to me and show me that he did love and listen to me. I have looked and looked for him, and I am convinced that he doesn't exist. We are simply life on a planet in space just living and interacting with eachother here. If you need to believe in god so that you feel your existance has meaning and purpose, go ahead. But, for me, and others like me, the way to fulfillment is to make our own purpose in life and to help others and live well and love much. We are atheists. We have no god to fear or worship or pay tithes to. We simply are humans. Peace
