Its a long time since I had to prove my age, so count yourself lucky!! Actually, when I was 15 I wore so much make-up I never had a problem buying or being served alcohol. I also think some shopkeepers are terrified of being caught selling fags to underagers, thats all. Try rolling your own its cheaper!!

Drinking booze at just fifteen
sneeking sips,not getting seen
asked for ID not a chance
have loadsa drinks, go in a trance
smoking fags, and acting cool
it's a rush, to break a rule
now that you are 21
what ever happened to the fun
your'e legal and the bubbles burst
and adult now, you're truly cursed
life is over, hit the skids
next thing you'll be having kids
with coppers coming to your door
your kid is pissed and your 34
they'll find the wee one lying pissed
and then you'll what you have missed

I heard of a 45 year old that was refused alcohol because he "looked 17." He was allowed to purchase cigarettes, though.

its the same way with me!
its because the laws have become more strict.
restaurant and bar owners will be fined and could lose their liquor license for serving alcohol to someone underage.
the same with cigarettes.
if you don't look over 35 i think, then they have to ask you for id.
i know that is what it is at Ruby Tuesday where i bartend.
i could lose my job and be fined, and could cause the restaurant to close for serving to a minor!
so - that is what i think!
i card everybody! plus, it is flattering, especially if you are older....

What's the big deal? You should always carry ID anyway, so it should be no hassle to produce it when it's required.
Besides, alcohol & cigarettes are both bad for you, so why are you even buying them?

Same for me, except I'm 24! They asked me in Sainsbury's and i was like, "are u kidding me"? That made me laugh! Seeing as my mates used to send me to buy alcohol when i was 13 because I looked old enough!!!

All the early drinking and smoking has stunted your physical development. Probably your mental development, too.
