More likely, He wants us to spend the time in prayer and study. But church is a good plan, as long as it's a church that follows all the truth, including the Ten Commandments, which includes the Sabbath Day commandment of the forth commandment.

I do not believe so... we of The Faith are to not forsake gathering to geather... but we are also told that where two or more are gathered in Christs name that is where The Church is... Christ is with those of His Church all the time.... It would be better to see that Christ did not gather great groups for "church" meetings... he met with his Apostles and a few deciples at a time... yes, he did have what could be called "rallies" but his method of teaching was in small groups... perhaps up to a couple hundred deciples at a time... this would indicat a call to small congrigations and home churches... rather than the "mega" herds of the "modern" way

Hmmmm, you just gave me a thinker. Although you can cross these two together, I don't think they will stay tied. Our Christ is the Risen Lord, Jesus at that time had not yet died for the sins of the world. We should spend time with Christ everyday (not just on Sundays) because we (Christians) love Him and want to be on a closer walk with Him. Me, probably more than anybody needs to heed this advise.

I think this is a very smart correlation. But, I think He meant for us to spend at least an hour a DAY with Him, not just an hour a week.

I think not only did He want His disciples to pray, but He was also telling us to spend time in church, daily prayer, and daily Bible study.

No I don't think that was his intention. Think about this WE are the church not a building somewhere. We can spend time with Jesus wherever we are.

Jesus was afraid of being tortured and killed, and he wanted the comfort of his friends.
That is, he was speaking to actual people about what was actually in his heart. He wasn't making any symbolic gestures to people who hadn't been born yet--or to people who weren't there.
While what everything Jesus did and said resonates on many levels, he never said or did anything merely to be symbolic. Everything he said and did was to confront or respond to what was going on in and around him.
One thing we can learn from that night in the garden is that even those who loved Jesus best while he was alive failed him. And so why should we be any better or different, if even those who left their lives to follow and serve him couldn't meet that one simple request of his--for some company and comfort?
This was perhaps the only moment in the history, present, and future of the world that God needed ministering to. And, of course, everyone failed. For who among us of the flesh can minister to the almighty? (The answer: None of us can.)

Not in the least at all even by the farthest stretch of the imagination. Use one of these regarding the end:
