I was lifting heavy weights for 3 weeks.
This week I do a lot less weight with a lot more reps.

I noticed that I cannot go for long with light weights, muscles really start to get sore, that I have give myself a 2 minute break, before the next set..

Is that normal?

Lifting light weight does not benefit you if your goal is muscle growth. Lifting light will develope your endurance but will not make your muscles grow. Also some people say lifting light will get you cut. To get more cut you have to lose body fat and light weight lifting is definatley not the way to do that. Anyone who would say otherwise is either really unexperianced in bodybuilding or is an idiot.

You will fatigue faster doing light weight with more reps thats obviouse.Because doing this is just like doing circuit training.

All in all if your trying to build up you need to go heavy. Different #'s of reps work for different people. try 6-8 reps andif thats not giving good results do 4-6. You should perform our reps so that you can atleast lift the minimum # ( =4 for 4-6) but no more than the max (=6 for 4-6).

For additional info check out the articles at bodybuilding.com and also you should check out the max-ot program from ast-ss.com.

Lifting for more reps uses different muscles (slow twitch) than when you go for short sets with heavy weights (fast twitch). You can get more cut with long rep sets as you tend to burn more calories and you will also build more endurance. Short sets will build more mass in the long run but is a good idea to change you workout between these two types of workouts every 4 weeks.

yes, that's normal. your muscle most likely have a lot of stength, but no endurance. if you want to obuild endurance, you just have to keep increasing your reps. It also lengthens your muscle, so if you want bulky muscle, stick with your high weight, low reps. If you want both strength and endurance, switch it up every couple of weeks.

ok youre just doing this wrong.........light weights with more reps is completely WRONG.........much less efficiency......doesnt do anything......doesnt make you more "toned" as youve probably been told........always do heavy weights........4-6 reps.......no lighter......

you should also ALWAYS wait at least 2 minutes between every set........you have to recover before you go again.......whats the point of lifting weights with fatigued muscles?......not smart....

go to http//ast-ss.com/...............great site.......free....all you need is email address.......they have a great workout routine.....will tell you everything you need to know......sorry but your just wasting your time doing it the way you are.......i should know, i used to do it that way too.........after i starting using the workout on this site, i was shocked at the results.......its even possible to see results week to week....
