My dad always removed ours and there wasn't a problem. My mother also removed stitches from my cousins. If you really know how, do it. I personally never have done it, but would certainly let my mom or dad take out my son's. Many of my friend's take out their children's stitches as well. Be sure you get all the thread so no pieces are left in; I had a dindaling friend do it and not get a piece out, no one taught her how she thought since she could sew and do embroidery she could do it, so the boy's dad had to dig a little to get it out, he did know how and she should have waited for him to get home. If you know what you are doing, go for it. People have been doing it for generations.

I wouldn't recommend it. There is a correct technique for suture removal to prevent infection and I daresay you have not been taught. Besides, your doctor needs to see how the incision has healed. If you can't get into the office until tomrrow, that's still okay but don't delay more than a day or two or the skin may heal over the sutures. This can be corrected but it's uncomfortable.
FYI: Suture removal is not normally painful. You will feel a tugging and slight discomfort but no more than that.

Well, as a nurse I would say no, but as a patient I say yes, it really is not a big deal, although the doc probably wants to see forhimself how wellyou have healed, I think that is the main thing.

It depends on where they are. Some may come off on their own. Anyway, get back to the doctor as it is his/her responsibility to clear it.

No. You don't have the medical experience to do this. Putting in and taking out stitches is more complicated than just scissors and bandaids...trust me, I had plenty of stitches in my day. Having them in for one extra day won't hurt anything. Just get in ASAP.

Yep, I always do it myself. It sounds like you would do it just right and if it is healed up really well, get those puppies out.
Also, I noticed someone said it would be painful.
NO it won't. As a matter fact...it is kind of tickley...

I don't see why not. Especially if it is healed up. You will be doing the same thing the doctor does.
