Gabapentin is used to help control certain types of seizures in patients who have epilepsy. Gabapentin is also used to relieve the pain of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN; the burning, stabbing pain or aches that may last for months or years after an attack of shingles). Gabapentin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. Gabapentin treats seizures by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain. Gabapentin relieves the pain of PHN by changing the way the body senses pain

I was involved in a serious road traffic accident in 1998 and received crush injuries at the base of my spine culminating with the removal of a disc at the L4/5. For years I suffered with low lumbar/thoracic back ache and sciatica if I remained seated or standing for long periods. A new GP prescribed Gabapentin 300mg x 3 times a day back in February 2015 and what was constant pain has reduced dramatically !!! Some people do suffer adverse effects but I am glad to say I m not one of them. You must realise the pain is still there but masked so do not do things you would not have normally done when in pain!

Gabapentin is a drug for seizures and also used for nerve pain. I am on it and use it for nerve pain. A Dr. injured a nerve in my neck which caused chronic pain, I take the gabapentin along with pain pill and muscle relaxer 3 times a day, it works great. Without it my pain is worse, my Neurologist told me it is used for nerve pain but started out as a seizure medication, they are not sure why it works but it does.

Gabapentin (GA-ba-pen-tin) is used to help control some types of seizures in the treatment of epilepsy. This medicine cannot cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it.
This medicine is also used to manage a condition called postherpetic neuralgia (pain after “shingles”).
Gabapentin is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form:
Oral
Capsules (U.S. and Canada)
Oral Solution (U.S.)
Tablets (U.S. and Canada)

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

For the past 3 years I have suffered daily with neuropathy. Well it’s been just 1 week and I just cannot put into words how brilliant my results have been. I have absolutely no more hyper sensitivity and no more agonizing burning pains. I can’t explain it, but this thing works. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your secret with me.
