Honestly, I think atheists do not tell the world about what they believe because they can feel the holy spirit tugging at their heart. They even know that there is a God. Everyone is aware of God no matter who you are. Maybe some just won't admit it.
May I also point out that most preachers do not think that they are the best. Some might, but they are wrong. Most just want to reach out to people. They know the Good News and they want to share it with the rest of the world. It is what believers are called to do! They really just want to see you in Heaven and want you to have a strong relationship with The Lord! And so does He!

The only reason why I would want to spread the word is Because God has done so many wonderful things in my life. I am not a selfish person, I would like to share the peace and joy that I have with everyone. Now, I'm not saying that one can't have peace and joy in any belief, but this is what helped me. If someone is happy with their belief, that's great and fine, and no sweat off my back.
Another reason is because God wants us to help others to beable to have a relationship with him. So it is our 'job' to spread the 'good news'

I don't know in what country you live, but in this country there's still something called "Freedom of Speech." I realize that we are losing most of our rights, but so far, we still have that one.
Why do you find it necessary to proclaim your views to the world? What if I said athiesm, or the talk of athiesm should be banned? How would you feel if you couldn't express your point of view? If you don't like what they say, ignore them, but don't prevent them from speaking. Think about what you are saying.
"I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -Voltaire

I have seen people of all kinds state their opinion as fact. As a Christian I agree we don't need to yell at the top of our lungs, the meek shall inherit the world. We need to show by the way we live our lives and how we treat other people. I have seen very religious people treat others very harshly...big turn off. Jesus as our example NEVER treated people like that the only people he did treat harshly were the ones who live by religion not by love & mercy.

For the same reason you feel impelled to ask this question, because you can. Those that want to talk about their beliefs are doing so because they want others to see the light of day and yes even save their lives by listening learning and choosing to love God and have no other gods sway them. As one other one answered he was surprised a JW hasn't quoted Math. 24:14, well read it and see what you think it means.

Actually, I see atheists trying to further their agenda every day. There was a history teacher in California who was teaching U.S. History and the ACLU brought a lawsuit against him for distributing copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence because they made reference to God. Just one of many, many examples.
As for why a Christian would proclaim the word of God, we are commanded to do so by Jesus.

God commands his people to go to all nations and preach the gosspel. Every man, woman and child will hear the word. If they choose not to believe, it is not because they have not been told. When judgment day comes, God will remind all of those people of the messengers he has sent to them to hear his word of truth. The excuse of "Lord, Lord I knew not because I heard not will not stand with God" He will say," depart from me, I know you not! "

I'm a Christian but I agree with you 100%. The best way to turn someone against believing is by preaching the Bible, which by the way was written by man so it bothers me alot when the Bible is quoted
