It depends. I absolutley love Jacque Lecoq technique of mime, and also its imitations.
I went to see a show called "3 Dark Tales" by Theatre O whose actors were trained by the Jacque Lecoq mime school in France. They make mime cool on the contemporary stage, rather than the stereotypical painted white face. Their acts are cleverly designed with all the actors depicting a character with animal instinct which instantly conveys the background of that character without the use of words.

For example, a husband who is scared of his wife was conveyed by being mousey. But his wife who is a power-hungry control freak is shown as a dragon like character.

Yes, I love them. They are very skillful & require so much concentration & discipline on the part of the performer. For an actor mime is great training in physical control & the art of convincing an audience that other people & objects are there when they aren't.

They give me the creeps, especially the street mimes. You're walking along minding your own business and they latch onto you and start to pester or try to imitate you ~ oh yeah, very funny. Just what you don't need!!!!

Yes, but I prefer those guys who stand absolutely still on a little box (all covered in silver or gold) and then leap out at you when you least expect it. I think those guys deserve a medal.

No - they're scary! They see invisible things and can use them. I think they're probably terrorists and making an invisible atom bomb which they'll use to blow up the whole world, invisibly.

No, they should all be put in real glass boxes and left there. Now that would be funny.
