Satan is doing that and 'you must believe this to be saved' stuff is really ridiculous. Instead of analyzing the situations at hand, reading up on the areas that are struggling, and knowing the people that are said through the media to be 'evil and wrong'. you'd realize everything is based on where you're born, and how you're brought up.
All this whacky dark-age 'devil stuff' is just naive ignorance trying to scare people into following certain behaviors. It's not 'real', it has never been proven, and never will. Yes, there are some '******* up' people out there, but if you had the time to know them and realize where they came from, you'd find out why they became that way. It's very unlikely some devil went inside them and is puppeteering their actions.
Many of the answers in here about spiritual warfare, and biblical prophercies sound like stuff out a stephen king book, or a Hollywood movie. You can see the influence. It's not reality people, relax.

I agree with you. I worry that if too many people believe in some sort of unseen spritiual war, it could become a self fulfilled prophesy (i.e. they make it happen by thinking it will). But I kind of wonder if that's what they're shooting for.

Satan is not going around puppeteering folks into doing **** - the people are doing it, of course. "the devil made me do it" doesn't fly. But, aside from that truth, yes, according to the Bible and even the very teachings of Jesus Christ, there is a spiritual war going on - and has been for a very long time. What you may not realize is that scripture explains it without any of the Stephen King- like stuff. This is what is says, basically: (and no, churches don't teach this because they are mostly illiterate when it comes to the Bible).
BEFORE Adam and Eve: There was an entire age - it explains we were all happy there. Jesus Christ was to inherit the throne,
and Satan started a great war - this war caused the destruction of both the Heaven age and the Earth age at that time. One-third of Gods children (us) went on the side of Satan, then there was another percentage who just like the folks today, didn't give a **** and didn't side up with anybody, and then there were those who stood by God - these he called his "elect". Now God could have just destroyed the one-third that went against him, but they were his children- what would it take to kill one of your own kids? So instead of doing that, He ended the first heaven and first earth age, and made the souls of his children to come in the flesh through woman, each to have free will and decide on his own who he will follow - Christ or Satan. You will read of this in Genesis chapter one- this earth age began with Adam and Eve in the garden, and if you recall, Satan showed up there, because he was still fighting to keep Jesus off the Throne so he could sit there himself. If you note the writings, it says to man, go and replenish the earth - to REplenish indicates it was plenished before, and it certainly was. At the end of this earth age, Christ will return and remember all along this war is still going on between Christ and Satan - This is the cool part: Before the real Christ returns, Satan is going to get booted out of heaven and come down to earth as antichrist. Anti means "instead of" so he will be instead of christ - a fake. Those who really studied the Word of God will know he's a fake. The Bible says 99% will be deceived and think he is Christ because they are biblically illiterate. Did you ever hear of the Rapture? Its bullshit - The Bible doesn't teach it, man does. God says he hates the teaching of it (Ezekiel chapter 13 around verse 18) So when these idiots think they are gonna get raptured out of here, when this first "christ" comes on the scene, they're all gonna whore after him by the masses. Only its the fake christ. He comes on the 6th trump - the real Christ comes on the 7th - Can't people count anymore?? God states that Satan has already been tried in the first earth age and condemned to death, but he's keeping him around alittle while until the end of this earth age so that he can use him to deceive those that don't know their asses from holes in the ground. Anyway, the Bible goes into great detail about the spiritual war as it was, as it is, and how its gonna play out. So you see, it really is true according to the Word of God -
But there isn't anything strange or mystical about it - The folks that participated in the first earth age are now on earth here in the second earth age, and God simply explains what happened and why. It shouldn't be so strange to know about that spirtual conflict - don't we constantly have struggles and wars now? Sure we do, cause people aren't any different now than they were a hundred year ago, or even ten thousand years ago. If you are interested in understanding more about what happened and is happening you will not find it out in most of the churches of today, but there is one source i know of: The Shepherds Chapel
in Gravette Arkansas. They would send you a free cd called "the mark of the beast" if you call and just ask for it. They are a zero-bullshit bible teaching church (the only one i've found in 15 years)
The phone number is: 1-800-643-4645. I guarantee you would be really pleased to get that cd - it would allow you to see that all of us christians are not ****** up phanatics.... bye!

Want to gain power over people? Convince them they are powerless. Tell them there are inherently evil forces in the world that they can do nothing about. Tell them their only hope is to trust in your plan to conquer the evil through superior magic power. One side effect of this mindset, though: people who have no sense of responsibility act irresponsibly. They can just say, "The devil made me do it."
There's a war on all right, but it's not against demons...

Absolutely. If we could see the spirit world,we would see all kinds of activity. It wouldn't be like watching a movie. It would literally scare the hell out of anybody.
Do you think you could be any meaner toward people of faith? You talk all this "it's a bunch of bull",but you won't stop and look at how terrible you are speaking to other people.Regardless of what you believe or not believe goes by the wayside when it comes to common decency.Speak to people, whoever they may be like humans. Not like a dog.
Peace.

Most people lives are fairly humdrum (not mine I hasten to add) they like a bit of drama. This Christianity and the good vs evil thing lets them feel important, its like a soap with themselves as bit players.

Yeah, I'm with you. The idea that 'satan buries dinosaur bones' to 'confuse us' with the idea evolution, seems like satan has way too much time on his hands.
Naturalism is totally the way to go.
