Well I'm a girl in 10th grade..and if a guy just came up and talked to me that'd be fine. It doesn't matter what.
Just ask her about herself, plans for the weekend, her favorite things to do, favorite genre of movies/music, what she wants to study in college [if she is going], etc.
You two'll be talking for awhile

How cute! well,..... girls aren't all the same so, a blanket statement about them won't help you that much. Basically ask them what they are interested in. when I was in 10-11 grade (not that long ago) I was interested in books, I wanted to be a writer. anyway, girls love it when you just try to be their friend. hope I'm being helpful....

flirt with them, but not too much. it really depends on what the girl is like. if she is conservative, then flirt subtly. talk to her about what classes shes taking and say stuff like "ohyeah, i was thinking of takign that next year" also gossip. if you heard of a fight early in the day, then ask if she heard about it and talk about the details.
also maybe throw in a movie you would like to see and find one she hasnt seen that would look good. this opens up into "want to see it sometime?"
