Maybe. If it could be guaranteed they would not be raped if captured, yes, but that can't be guaranteed, so no. The specter of women being abused, beaten or raped, would break most men rather quickly. If they were to be allowed to the front, they should have to pass the same standards as the men, not 'equivalent' standards for a female, because sometimes there's only one there to get a wounded guy back to the medics.

YES female soldiers should be sent to the front lines. I have served in Iraq and I had many female soldiers right there on the front line with me doing everything I did. I have seen them strive and do more than most males. If she wants to be in the military and knows the chance of deploying to fight then she should be willing that a chance could arise to be placed on the front line. I have the most respect for the females I served with on the front lines in Iraq

If I were back in the military, I would hope they would form units of women only for combat. I know this isn't "politically correct". Sorry, but there is a place to draw the line. If I were back in the "boonies", I would want some one with me as strong and capable as me or even more. Not many women measure up in this area and I wouldn't want to have to carry one or to get me killed. Sorry, men and women are different. Each can do things better than the other in general and this is one area. If women want combat, send out a squad of either men or women on an ambush.

A few years ago I argued in favor of drafting women on an equal footing with men because I thought having women in the military would prevent the US from getting involved in any wars that were not absolutely necessary. I imagined that the public would rebel against putting women in harm's way for questionalble reasons. Well we found out that isn't the case. Now I think women should have the choice to join the military and I think all members of the service should be assigned the jobs for which they are most qualified. A woman who is physically strong enough to meet the standards for combat should go where she is needed.

well personally i think woman should be on the front lines, just b/c i get tired of hearing female soldiers "war stories". i think we should send just a few groups so they'll shut up. but i understand why they don't send them to the front lines with males. its a males instincts to protect a female so rather than doing there job.

I believe a woman can pull a trigger just like a man. I do believe however that some men and women in the military could not handle having women on the battle field. There are those that would treat the women differently and some women that would want to be treated differently and you can't or shouldn't do that in battle. It would really be interesting to have a 100 percent female unit on the battlefield. Once again, I do believe women are capable and overall would perform great.

I believe that if they can pass the requirements that a male soldier is required to do then yes.
I believe that if you can perform the same functions/tasks...why not.
I do agree with devil duck above though...there are a lot of reasons that a female soldier should seriously consider before trying to prove a point.

No. War is not just about killing people, but about following a code of conduct. There is discipline and chivalry in war, and warriors respect one another. It's basic decency.
Women in the front lines lack such concepts as warrior generosity and decency in battle. Many countries have had women in the front lines before (most Eastern European countries have, for example) always with the same bad results: women are much more likely to commit crimes during war, like shooting sleeping babies in their cribs or torturing detained prisoners.
It's not in women's nature to follow the chivalry codes of war. In order to make killing acceptable, they dehumanize the enemy and are more likely to do things that taint the war, turning it from a conflict of gentlemen into a battle of thugs.

I don't think women are allowed to go to the combat. They can be deployed to the Middle East, but not on the front line.

I don't see why not. Many other countries draft women, as well as men, sending them to the front line with their male counterparts.
