Back in the day, it was all about granny panties. Any girl that wore a thong was a hoochie. Then, slowly but surely it became more acceptable, and women began to prefer them because of the "visible panty lines" inherent to grannies. The thong would supposedly eliminate such a concern. And so ladies began wearing thongs because they hated panty lines. Now, here is the IRONY. Every guy knows when a girl is wearing a thong. You can see them, their outline. And then the guys all chuckle to each other "Hey you see Suzy's thong?" . So that's the irony, girls don't want their panty lines noticed, but the thong only accents it.

That's true, the thong doesn't eliminate the panty line, it just moves it into the middle of the girl's butt.
Plus there's the phenominon known as "Whale Tail"
That is, when a girl in low rider pants bends over, you can see the top of her thong (it looks like the tail of a whale when it's diving into the water - that's why it's called a "Whale Tail")
And a Whale Tail is worse than a Panty Line any day of the week
Plus there's the history of the thong - they were originally invented as stripper underwear.
Back in 1939, the City of New York banned all nude stripping,
But, the strip club owners still wanted to have their dancer's butts be visible to the customers.
So, a strip club owner went to an underwear manufacturer, and they came up with the idea of underwear that covered the front of a girl, but left her butt exposed
And that's where we get the thong
From stripper underwear to the standard panty for every girl in America in just 66 years

Well, I am not a devotee of thongs. I always joke and say they were invented by a man, because no woman could dream up those things. I guess some people find them sexy, but I'm at an age where comfort supersedes sex, and to me, they are the most uncomfortable excuse for underwear on the planet. If a girl wants to have a bare backside, she should just go without panties. Who needs that strip of cloth in the sanctum sanctorum?

i really don't see the irony, maybe I'm a bit slow today. But If we evolved from granny panties to thongs in a matter of say, 20 years, What will they come up with next? Maybe Paris Hilton will be the pioneer and start the "see through" pantie movement.

I am guilty of the "no panty line thong wear" also. I just don't understand why I spend all day feeling the need to pull regular panties out of my crack and then deliberately put a string in there and leave it all day. Baffling!

Yeah I see what your saying. I don't care if a guy can tell if I am wearing a thong, granny panty, or bikini panty.

disagree-often in bar i wore thong and was asked if i was wearing anything under those jeans. so works both ways, plus "back in day" jeans were not as sheer/thin or tight, so thonglines harder to detect. but i get your point somewhat
