I am stuck in a serious rut. I can't get motivated to go to the gym. I know once I start working out again I will ask myself why I stopped. I feel great after I work out, but I just can't seem to get there. How do you push yourself after you fall off?

I hate going to the gym as well. The way I think about is: I am still young, but what will I look like in five years after never working out. Also, think about how great you will look and comforable you would be if you had a great body. It doesn't take much time to get in shape. It just takes the effort to get us there! Also, invest in an ipod or something, that way you have your own music choices.

Hey I've been there. What you can do is get new gym stuff; a new bag, gym shoes, gym clothes, the works! When you have new things it will make you want to workout. After your " first in a long time workout", go home and quickly write just 10 things that will be the results of diet and exercise or no diet and exercise. For example: #1. Wearing a bikini the first time or in long a time. #2. Wearing shorts and T-shirt over a one piece bathing suit. That surely will be motivational. Finally get people involved like family or your closest friends. This will motivate you because if you let everyone know what you're weight lost goals are, it will give you the drive to workout and prove not only to yourself but to everyone that you sought after a goal and you accomplished it. Also you will feel great just hearing the compliments from everyone on how your body has changed. I really hope this works for you. Good luck!

I fell off too. Kinda slid downhill starting this summer and was eventually going once a week, if at all. I actually went twice this week so far, thank goodness. When I get busy and tired, it is hard to go. What I did was get a good night's rest, then schedule in the time I'm going to the gym and get my butt there. I like exercise classes the best, they are so motivating. Now I feel great. I don't think I went at all last week. I am my normal self now, was a zombie for a couple of months. My mood has lifted and I have more energy, without drinking coffee.

I find the shared Health journal entries on Oprah's website very motivating.

Makes plans to go with a friends. I despise getting up early to work out and seldom have the motivation to get myself up, but knowing that I am meeting someone there makes me get up.

If that is not an option perhaps you could schedule some sessions with a person trainer so you have a set time you have to be there.

In other words build an obligation factor into going.

maybe you should start off slow. start walking for 45 min a day. work your way up. then when you feel like you got back in your old groove go to the gym. i know it's hard but my motivation is to get back down to my old size. it was hard to get back into exercising after the baby. i do it. i walk for about 45 min to an hour a day. i'm also in total body at school. maybe you should ask yourself what you want to benefit from exercising and that should be your motivation

After a lengthy time period of walking some miles an afternoon, your body will commence to regulate and then that is more convenient to get brought on to do different workouts and perhaps watch what you eat somewhat. after I hit 310 i might want to had sufficient. I now run 3 miles an afternoon and characteristic lost 70 lbs. I owe all of it to walking daily, rain or shine. once you're accessible walking contained in the rain or the 0 degree climate, tell your self that it will make walking on the valuable days more convenient in case you wade through by the undesirable days. solid success - you may do it, in case you extremely favor it.

Find a pic (s) of yourself at your fattest possible moment of your life. Then put it somewhere that you will be sure to see it all the time. I have 2 of my fridge of myself when I was huge. You have to go past the fridge to get anywhere else in the house, so I'm continually motivated when I see them and so far I'm now down 47 pounds with 15 more to go. Thank god for my "fat pictures".

Good question girl! The thing that always gets me going is looking at photos of myself when I was in the best shape. I challenge myself with whether or not I can get there again which always jump-starts my motivation. Good luck!

Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.

1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day

2.) drink lots of water

3.)exercise every day

4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep.

Good luck. I mean it. You may be saving your life. I saved mine.
