Dear Encourager 4 God: I see by your chosen nickname that you are someone who would encourage and teach others toward more understanding of their God.
I am an anointed spiritual teacher for Jesus and have studied Religion and Spirituality for 21 years. I became anointed in 2005. I would like to offer you some pointers in your present distress - if you would bear with me.
1. First, we need to acknowledge that we are made up of two separately operating "aspects" in our minds. We are a human Intellect which has it's own understanding and logic. And, we have a soul/spirit which has no logic, but simply Knowledge and Knowing. As humans, we are not always in touch with the soul or spirit aspect of our Being.
2. The human "ego" mind (not inflated ! Simply human mind or Intellect) is not always our best friend. While we can count on soul or spirit to be our friend, our human aspect can and often, to varying degrees, does turn on itself. There are many, many varying reasons and causes for this and they are not important.
3. It is also noteworthy that people with strong religious or spiritual background and experiences often get "hit" the hardest by their own minds. In fact, people who seem to be progressing on their spiritual path or Journey, will often be sabotaged by their human or "ego" mind.
4. The problem with this is at different degrees of it - it can mean different things, and produce different problems. For instance, at one level, it can cause depression that displays itself in anger and bitterness, or lead to the manifestation of self-ruin such as Anorexia or eating disorders - which can lead to the demise of the person. Anorexics hear their own voice telling them that they are lacking and not measuring up to others, etc. So you see, the "ego" mind can be quite punishing.
More of this level is our "ego" minds running through and replaying things we think we HAD handled ; yet replaying the incidents repeatedly until we feel we are out of control of ourself. It may appear to us, at this level, that God Who we thought we had a solid relationship with - is failing us in our prayer requests to Him.
5. At a still more intense and hazardous level, the mind is capable of turning upon itself to stop a spiritual or religious person from progressing further on its path. The aim, in this situation, can be to subconsciously subvert yourself so that the relationship with God is weakened or broken all together. The mind can even become demonic in what it speaks to itself, hardening the heart and directing itself away from its God. This state can become a "hellish mind." We need to be aware of the mind-games we play with ourselves. We need to be watchful of our mental health and spiritual health.
How do we go about the healing of this problem?
1. We first need to understand, that through psychology or our own working out of our problems and feeling "done" with it, the mind will absolutely bring the problems back before us again. One of the dynamics known well in spiritual circles is the dynamic of replaying things we thought had been figured out and laid to rest. The Intellect is never done with anything! We never forget. And, we may not yet have mastered Forgiveness.
2. In my own experience, I found that surrendering it to God probably will not work in and of itself. This is something that requires God - through the Holy Spirit and Jesus - to work through with YOU, as a partner, in order to finally lay it all to rest or release it forever - once and for all. Believe me, once the Holy Spirit or Jesus (your preference) work through it with you, as the Supreme Analysts, you will be released from it. God, nor They can do this without YOUR great participation or partnering with Them.
3. This requires, however, that you are able to HEAR the voice of Jesus or the quiet non-tonal voice of the Holy Spirit within your mind. You need to be guided (as the disciples were guided by the Voice of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus). IF, you have never heard Them speak to you, but only speak to Them - you have some work ahead of you. It is mandatory that the needed conversations you are going to have with Them flow both directions.
4. For instance, I sit in a quiet spot. I have set aside time for contemplation and call forth Jesus and the Holy Spirit to join me. Silently, and to myself, I give them greetings and my love. I then present my problem to them, of the past, and tell Them I have reached a point of surrender. I can NOT deal with it myself. Apparently, no matter how much I thought I had figured it out - something remains unresolved inside of me about it. It is too much for me, now, and I am ASKING for help. I then continue to discourse with Them about my FEELINGS and the disappointment angers of the past. What can they tell me that would help HEAL this forever? Speak then about the different points and aspects of the situation that are so hurting you. THEN, I listen. The key is to talk and listen. Listen until you can hear their discussion of what you have spoken of. IF, nothing occurs - your mind is blocking their ability to come through into your conscious mind. Ask for help with you blockage. This can take work. Daily work. But, once you CAN hear Them, you are on your way. They can take the past and release it faster than anything you have ever imagined, AND, it never comes back. Peace ensues.
The difficult part of this, of course, is the work on your part to develop a learning/teaching relationship with Them. This is Their job. This is Their work. They are Masters of it. But, we may not be accustomed to thinking we can have that type of relationship with Them. Sometimes our traditional religious background does not encourage thoughts of having that type of relationship with them. Some religions teach that when Jesus Ascended He went to rest and sit at the right hand of God. He cannot be reached, nor the Holy Spirit, but through a Priest, etc. Communion means an official ceremony performed with a Priest , etc., and the layman cannot reach this communion with Them, himself, alone. These are some of the teachings that hold us back from proper perspective and the help we need. Your Healer of the Mind, your highest source of an Analyst - is Jesus. He works ceaselessly and intensely - today - to join his mind and thoughts to those of us who have called upon him. He teaches, explains, directs our thinking to proper perspective. Just by ASKING HIM TO.
Your work lies before you in pushing away your blocks to being able to hear Them. Once you have worked through this, your past troubles are FINISHED.
Begin the two steps:
1. Look out for your mind trying to undermine you with thoughts that are distressing and depressing. You can fight back! You can push those thoughts away and REFUSE them. Refuse to listen. This becomes mastery of the mind.
2. Every day there needs to be time put aside to sit in stillness and invite Jesus and the Holy Spirit to be present with you. Work at talking to them as Friends - and then listening. When you hear nothing, consider to yourself why that MIGHT BE? Look for blockages in your mind. Are you afraid of Their Presence within you? Keep working until you CAN hear Them. Good luck. Our minds can be our worst enemy....
Best regards, Lana

sadly there are some things that will never fully leave you, u can try to ignore them the best u can, but every now and then that thought will slip back in your mind. ive a few myself. though i dont believe in god, some say the best way to do away with that is to let it out, talk to someone about it. but i dont think everything can be let go like that, some things will stick with us the rest of our lives, we just have to learn to live with it, and do our best in future problems that arise.

Sounds Hard...I'm sorry for whatever happened to you and your family. Reach out, talk about it and get reinforcement, and then, hard as it may be, FORGIVE. Honestly, completely forgive. It is the only way. Also, try to help your sisters, never undermine another's pain.
