i think the trainer gets paid b/c they're the ones actually working with the dog on the set, and if the owner is different form the trainer, then the owner probably gets paid a little for use of the dog.

Yes they get paid....now this guy wasn't in moviess but i am sure you remember the RCA dog....well he is so well paid that his owner was able to start a rescue that houses animals from dogs to cats to horses to elephants, she has rescued i think they said about three hundred animals and this dog is the sole means by which she pays for it all.

since they do not have thumbs the check has to go to the owner so it can get endorsed.
