Acts 17:11
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

gods child - while i appreciate your faith, i am not agreement that Peter was the first Pope. i believe I can read scripture just as well as the Pope and i have the holy spirit in me to guide me. There are many men in the world who understand the scriptures. I would say to you: when god has had so many men throughout history to be prophets, apostles, pastors, evangelists and teachers, why would you trust only ONE man?

Decidedly.
It is much easier, of course, to know that one particular interpretation is correct and then be in a position to condemn everyone who strays from the true path.

One battered volume on my bookshellf is "Approaches to Old Testament Interpretation." (Goldingay)
It may come as a surprise to many that there is more than one approach!
One should never study the bible using a commentary: use none, or more than one. Otherwise the one guide's interpretation tends to be promoted to being the correct one.
If it were as simple as some maintain, the church would not be as divided as it is.

St Peter the first pope said there is no personal interpretation of Sacred Scripture. You need an authentic and authoritative interpreter of Scripture to keep the truth of Gods Word intact guided by the Holy Spirit which is the Holy Catholic Church given by Christ regarding all truth in faith and morals and has remained the same for 2000 years. Opinions vary from one human person to the next, who do you believe?

Do not attempt to twist the meaning of scripture...that is how the antichrist operates. The intended meaning is clear in this version for those who do not know their Bible. Don't attempt to change the meanings! God warns to those who add or take away from my words so shall I take away from his life!

Acts 17:
10-12That night, under cover of darkness, their friends got Paul and Silas out of town as fast as they could. They sent them to Berea, where they again met with the Jewish community. They were treated a lot better there than in Thessalonica. The Jews received Paul's message with enthusiasm and met with him daily, examining the Scriptures to see if they supported what he said. A lot of them became believers, including many Greeks who were prominent in the community, women and men of influence.
