It varies ALOT by region of the country. I'm in the Northeast and we were on a tight budget. We spent $6000 and had a fabulous church wedding, reception and 90 of our closest friends/family.

Hope this helps!

I am planning my wedding now (ceremony is August 2007). My fiance and I set a modest budget of $5,000. The budget has allowed us to put things into perspective, I'll tell you that much! I have friends who took out loans, refinanced their homes, etc. and plan to spend between 15,000 and 20,000....

Well, my Dad set a budget for me at 5k and think that is what people try to set when they are going for a moderate spend. However as things start progressing you find things that you want that are bit more expensive that what you expected. We are right at 10k now. I would say about 5-10k is reasonable.

I've only been frequenting the "wedding" section here for a little while now, but it seems like I've answered this question a million times.

We spent $5k and darn proud of it. More than enough to get everything we wanted but small enough to be able to pay cash and not owe anyone a dime afterward. :)

After everything is said and done I would say our wedding set for next July is going to cost us in a whole of $16,000 dollars.

I'm only having about 80 people and I'm at 8,000.00 already and I'm doing the flowers and invitations myself but I also live in New York. I think this is too much money!

It depends on your budget, what you can afford and what style of wedding you want. My fiance and I are spending $3000 on our wedding. We are keeping it small, private and reflective of who we are. My brother got married last month and spent about $10,000 on his wedding. My cousin got married last Nov and spent about $35,000 on her wedding...it just depends on what you want and what you can afford...there are no guidelines for the type of wedding or cost involved. Just have fun with it!
