If I were your mother, you wouldn't be going out with a 17 year old guy no matter how nice he might be. You are at the very beginning of your teen years; he's toward the adult end. This is an enormous age difference when you are still maturing. You have been given good advice by your friends who have a reason to be concerned about you. You sound like a very sensible girl who doesn't want to make a mistake. Find someone your own age for at least a couple more years. Then you might go with someone one year older. You have lots of time to enjoy being a teenager. Don't do something you'll regret later.

they are right, there is a large gap in age and development between a 17 and a 13 year old. You are too young for him and it will only lead to trouble. I know you think he is nice and whatever, but if he truly was nice he would only be your friend and understand that being anything more is not appropriate. He would be the bigger person. I know it seems like there is nothing wrong with it now, but when you are 17 or when you get older, you will understand.

A 13 year old girl and a 17 year old boy think very, very differently. Most boys over the age of 15 are thinking about having sex with their girlfriends. You need to be very careful because this boy see's you as young and innocent and an easy score for him even though that may not be true. Find a boyfriend who is closer to your age and is into the same stuff you are and who is thinking about kissing you not trying to have sex with you.

Of course your friends are right and you know it!
17 vs 13 is a huge age difference in terms of maturity and manipulation skills. Unless this guy is a truly decent guy, the chances of you being pressured into sexual activity that you aren't ready for is a very strong possibility.
At your age I would recommend that you don't have a relationship with or date anyone over 15; play the two year rule until you're a sophmore in college.
I know this isn't the answer you want, but it's what I know.

There is no need to rush and certainly to date a guy who is 17 ,innocence last for such a short period of time you should see someone your age maybe 2 years older so you can be compatible so when you suggest something you like to do that person will agree enjoy and support you, your humor and all those weird feelings and things you guys do at 13. finish the relationship.ASAP.

Well the age difference is 4yrs but in life you two are on different levels and that is what trully matters but if he likes you he will value you as a person and respect your relationship you should keep your eyes open and be ready for anything for anything( but thats true for anything in life) The problem here is that when he turns 18 your relationship will turn into staturory rape but always remember age is nothing but a number and if he truly likes you he will value you as a person an mate. Yours parents are old enough to know whats going on so they will understand an let you know whats up. Have you tried talking to him and really analyzing the situation, you should do what you feel is best and decide.

It sounds like you already know the answer. You should be questioning his mentality anyway since in most state a 17 year having relations with a 13 year old constitutes statutory rape. Beside why can't he find a girl his own age? It likely that no matter how mature you may be he is very immature. You could probably find a nicer boy with a better head on his shoulders closer to your own age. Your young, you've got plenty of time to date, I would leave him alone before he hurts your feelings.

I can't say but my opinion is that you are still to young to think of someone as serious because if everyone else likes him he will probably end up a player and hurting you in the process. All guys have an ego and they have a tendency to get bigger as they get older and more people start to notice him. So just be alert and never let your guard down completely.

Yep, listen to your friends, you are way to young to be dating a 17 year old. THe age difference in just too different here. Maybe when you are older like 18 or over then a 4 year difference will no be so bad.
