Go out and get a dog training book. It should give you the idea for basic training. Also, puppies like to chew, so be sure to keep lots of appropriate chew toys for your puppy so he doesn't chew on your coffee table or shoes, etc. Any big pet supply store has special puppy made chew toys. Get them small because your new dog will be small.

That is such a cute name!
As for training there are many great training sites to look into on the web. Just type in puppy training and you will find good advice.
And for puppy toys... I personally love the fun cute selection of dog toys at Target. They have a whole line and they have lots of toys for smaller breed dogs. have a blast with Rascal!

This is exciting for you! Not to be confused with easy. You should not formally take your dog to "dog training classes" or the like until the dog is at least 6 months to a year old. So till then, just be sweet and kind to the animal, and it will be the most wonderful dog in the world. Stock up on rawhides, and stuffed animals, these little critters can chew like there's no tomorrow. They also will have frequent bowel movements, like every two hours, so get ready to get up in the middle of the night!

As far as housebreaking the best thing is to crate train him. For obedience training enroll the pup in a puppy kindergarten class. The pup will be taught basic obedience and you will learn how to work with the pup on basic obedience. Also the pup will learn socialization with other dogs and people. As far as toys, my 15 week old Bichonpoo likes the fleece soft squeak toys, for teething I have a puppy Kong and Nylabone.

CUTE NAME! toys are a good idea to keep him occupied and to use to train not to chew every thing! i have done this! i would get a few different ones in case he is pick w/ toys! mine always and still loves doggie tennis balls, and squeaky ones! if you see him chewing on something else, take it, tell him no(using a Stearn voice), and give him the toy!!! do this every time and they learn to chew on the toy instead of all you stuff!!! lots of luck to you both!! :)

The best thing we got our dog to keep her from chewing up shoes, or furniture was to get a sock tie it in knots and let them chew on that (dogs loose their baby teeth just like us)
Also Start walking him on a leash at an early age so you can keep control and correct bad behaviour.
You may want to look into obedience courses at your local pet supply store.

Good site to learn about crate training.
I have a toy breed mutt and I've litterbox trained mine. I used basically the same method, except she goes to the box instead of outside. I love it when it's bad weather out.

I would buy the book the dog whisperer and learn from him. He is the best when it comes to dealing with dogs.
