I don't want to be dishonest or anything, but I've been having occasional migranes(about one a month and I've never had them before until last year). I'd really like them to take a look and see if everything looks normal. Also I have some symptoms that might put me on the "autistic spectrum" so I thought that a scan might give me some comfirmation of that as well. If I told my general care physician that, would that be enough? I have HMO.

Yes. Just go to your GP and describe your symptoms and he'll do the rest; referring you for the proper tests and all.

I've been having the same problem lately. Tell your doc the symptoms and that you have the worst headache in your life, your head feels like it is going to explode at times. Ask to be referred to a neuroligist. Tell him the same thing. He can send you for the MRI, he will send you for blood tests as well. Also, ask that you are referred to an eye doctor to have the pressure checked. If you find out anything let me know. I've done all these things and am still left with no answer as to why. I have HMO as well. It's a long process but it eventuall gets done.

You have the right to have one done tell your doctor tell who ever else that you see and just let them know that you experiance bad headaches and let them know you would rather have a cat scan done to be on the safe side, cause most doctors will tell you something thats way off and than come to find out you should have gotten the scan a long time ago. but yea just tell them you think you need one done and you wont take no for an answer. good luck

make it seem worse than it is and ask for a referral to a specialist. The first thing the specialist will do is order those test. the PCP wil not be able to help except with the refferal, so that is my suggestion.

Just go overbaord with it and say you have had more than you do. I have migraines...and I was honest and the Dr sent me for MRI....or try a new Dr.....or simply put.....ask your Dr.....most honest way!
