i believe that it will put an end to many senseless wars and would save a lot of peoples lives from being killed by religious extremists and fanatics... plus those people being used by cults...

i didnt say that we should throw away all the teachings... but that we can interpret it on our own and not let somebody else interpet it for us... follow what you believe can help better your life... follow jesus's example... if everyone would do the same, then religion will be obsolete... and jesus didn't make a religion he simply wanted a place of worship and he wanted peter to build it for him... he didn't say "peter you will be the foundation of my religion" no he just wanted him to build him a church, a place of worship where people can go and discuss about how to be saved and a place to pray...

I think religion is a good thing. It does more good than bad.
Look at the Western world - increasingly less religious, and look at the dicline of western society - divorce high and rising, drug abuse, violent crime, lack of respect, theft etc.. etc.. etc...
Religion - no matter which one - gives people a set of guidelines to live by which enable people to live day to day with each other in a civilised manner. Wothout religion people have no guidance and everything seems to go to hell!
And all the 'religious' violence you talk of is primarily POLICTICALLY motivated - religion plays really a small part in the whole scheme of it.
I dont have religion either by the way - doesnt mean i cant see the benefits though.

The Bible says, "Without a preacher how shall they hear?" Religion does not kill---people kill. If people would live moral lives, then there would be no wars. But sin is in the world and people love sin, so there will be wars until Christ comes and puts an end to them.

Not me. The bible CLEARLY teaches that faith in God alone is NOT enough to be saved. It is necessary, yes, but not enough.
James 2:24, "For we hold that man is justified by works, and NOT BY FAITH ALONE."
I don't know how much clearer it can get. Unless you believe the book of James is not inspired.
BTW, Martin Luther called it an "epistle of straw. " Can you imagine what would happen if the Pope said that about any of the books of the Bible?
And if you want to hear it straight from the mouth of Jesus...
When a young man asked Jesus what he had to do to be saved, Jesus did not say " have faith in Me." He said, "KEEP the Commandments."
There's your answer.

Sure, let's play the scapegoat game and blame organized religion for all the problems in the world. I would think that other things like poverty, alcoholism, ethnic hate, etc play a much greater role than any imagined problems caused by organized religion. Besides, many of the "extremists" and "fanatics" are by definition "out of the mainstream", therefore not a part of organized religion by default.
So to answer your question: Not me.

Is faith in God not part of a religion? You're contradicting yourself here.
Wars would stop with no differences in religion, I'll give you that, but we're likely to find different reasons to battle then...such as race. Or, as with things these days, who controls the oil.

Faith in God will not save you - saying a prayer will not save you - God spells out in His Word exactly what is required to be saved.

Religion is not the cause of wars and violence. People who believe in the religion are.
No matter what you do, people are going to have contradictory opinions of what the imaginary sky-daddy is, and they will fight about it.
End religion and false belief is the real answer.

You are not lost so you don't need to be saved.
This idea is just a lie that religion tells to control people. God made you perfect just the way that you are. Do you really need to be saved from perfection?
