Last year everyone at my work was trying the Atkins diet. All they ate for lunch was egg and chicken. Also they never had a **** so they would take this herbal stuff whenever they had a day off the next day and that day would be spent on the toilet. They didn't stay on the diet for long.

The atkins diet consists of protein, fats and very low carbohydrates 20-40grms,it does work, as your body learns to turn the fats into energy and the weight falls off.
People go on about the atkins not being good for you then go and eat a big mac and fries.By the way you can have a big mac but not the bun and fries.
Too many carbohydrates with protein turn into pockets of fat as your body cannot burn them all up and you end up putting weight on.
Your best eating sensibly, cutting out saturated fats sugary things and keep carbs low and you'll soon lose weight.
Mr Atkins may be dead but he was in his 70's!

Most of the people answering here obviously have no clue what Atkins is about, how it's done or how it works.

Atkins is about drastically cutting the amount of carbohydrate you eat, and cutting out the starches and sugars.

In the very beginning, you only eat 20g of carb per day. Most of your carbs should be from veggies. You slowly increase your carb intake until you find out how much you can eat and still lose weight.

The emphasis is on fresh, whole foods rather than prepackaged, processed "food". You should be getting low-carbs, adequate protein and high fats. People following the Atkins plan as written usually find that their cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and other readings improve greatly.

As far as Atkins being dead, he died at the age of 71 (not too shabby) after he slipped on ice while walking to work and hit his head on the sidewalk.

Nathan Pritikin (low-fat guru) is also dead. Does that mean we should not eat low fat? Sheesh!

To find out the details about doing Atkins, see the website. http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases
Keep in mind that the website is no longer owned by the Atkins family, but by a corporation dedicated to selling foods and products, so take what they say about low-carb products being okay with a grain of salt. Better to avoid the products and just eat real food. Low-carb is about learning a better way of eating, not about replacing crap with low-carb crap.

Make sure to drink your water, get enough exercise and enough sleep.

With this diet you don't get to eat any bread potatoes rice speghetti noodles or anything spicey and they want you to avoid fruit at least in induction phase. It is high in fat and protein and you can only have a small amt of veggies everday in induction. No sugar of any kind. It is very restrictive and doctors say bad for you because of high fat. You should try south beach before it as it is more realistic and not as high fat but the best diets limit fat and portions and combine exercise with diet.
Weight Watchers is much easier to live by and you won't gain the weight back as fast.

Theres no such thing as a diet where you can't cut out the food you liked otherwise you woudn't need to diet. Atkins means cutting out carbs such as bread, crisps, high sugary stuff, potatos etc and eating high protein food like eggs, meat etc.. not good as it puts a tremendous strain on your kidneys - just eat healthily and exercise.

as i work in a Holland and Barrett and I'm a trained advisor. i would not recommend the akins diet for a long term solution. this is because your are starving your body of the vits and minerals you need from the foods you take out. it causes constipation, migraines and can raise your blood pressure and give you a high cholesterol level. try taking something like a phase 2 instead which gets rid of unneeded carbs naturally

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/eWjGE
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

Download your favourite tracks to see to. If you’ve committed to a half hour session each day then a 30-minute soundtrack of the very upbeat, motivating tunes will maintain you pumped up!

Ask for your entrée being served on a bed of greens rather than bed of pasta or mashed taters.
