Why not build advanced greenhouses in countries suffering from starvation?

Large percantage of humanity suffer from starvation. Charity organizations tryies to send as many aids as posible, but it gives short efect mostly becouse most countries simply can not emerge from this problem by this way. Food production is going to be problem everywhere soon as problem of amount of drinking woter... so problem can reach to everyone in the end. I know there were some ideas of closed greenhouses for space expeditions purposes so why not prove their efeciency first here on Earth? The harash enviroment of some places of our mother planet should be a perfect test for such ideas (like Africa). What if build some kind of pyramid, dome or half of cylinder from glass with low translucente (or venetian mirror) to protect it from too strong sun and make it close to stop woter from leacking out and evaporate? What if build the same structures but supported by huge mirrors in cold areas of Earth globe? Greenhouses can be build once for long time so all that must be done is to build it and give it to people to produce food and maintain structure. Of course some one must lead this task. Maybe Bono? He once asked how to end poverty so maybe this is his chance to prove his devotion. I believe much more must be done like better education, lesser problem with weapons black market, less evil rulers destroying all attempts to help poore people... but its diffrent part... Shortly: I am asking if you will use your will and power to help people eficiently and in old way: once for long time, with sacryfice of heart worth God followers?

I hope you will read all this. I'm a bit though but I guess after 35 years, I know the problems.

We are the poorest people, we suicide, Children kill students, we divorce every 3 years, and we can have an outbreak of Avian influenza.

We bother with false problems.

But you think to others! Unusual! Nice!

One point: do we deserve to live on earth if we can make it a rather good place? First here on Earth.

Now, we can fight the worst problems.

Greenhouses are extremely expensive and they are hotter than outside. So they are best located in cold Countries not in Africa!

Commonly, greenhouses are covered with white painting to reflect heat even in Montreal Cda.

I,ve heard a perfect answered concerning OGM (genetically modified plants (mostly): We know best now what has been done for centuries by farmers.

We have desease resistant roses, those growing near Pole North, they are insects resistant. And the best rose in the world is no longer "Peace" but "Canadian White Rose" which is desease resistant, insect resistant and hardy almost anywhere. It was created by a german who won rose contests after rose contests.

We can do the same with any plants. No doubts. Have you seen new straight bananas instead of the old curbed ones? they were created after the last species of banana who was resistant to a desease.

Genes are only a fraction of a chromosome which is a packed set of DNA (this helps connecting more genes together, to reject useless genes, to allow more variation of the genepool).

But we can't get a hardy rose without getting a given rose color, unless we isolate the hardiness gene and replicate it in another DNA. This is impossible through standard breeding.

Trees can vanish just because a wrong gene or a missing one. If we can do it faster and cheaper and without "side effects, why not?

The problem is the monopoly of Monsanto that raises the cost not the technolgy.

Concerning drinking water: raw but true answer: Detroits sends acid rains over Quebec and Ontario. Our lakes are dying.

In other words, Global warming is not the true problem. The true problem is the overconsumption of so many useless goods. All the electronic gadgets. the fast and sexy cars, the use of gaz instead of electricity. We have a great electric car but no buyers.
Electric cars can get rid of half of greenhouse gaz. The other part comes from electric plants. At least forbid the use of coal!

Recycling is the most stupid idea as I mentionned in 87. Why not using less plastic components just for 3 months.

Newspapers are killing trees without even the tiniest reason: tv provides better information, more complete ones, internet is another provider and a damn good one (After all we are discussing of a problem without even knowing each others!

One real problem are electric plants. The solution is to build nuclear plants.

If only we would ship frozen food that is not sold after a month, there wil be no hungty people but this is said to be economiclly bad.

we are more advanced so we give example! And solutions need one major thing: full collaboration from everyone!

Before dealing with overconsumption, let's talk of misuse of goods.

A good car could last 12 years min. Why do we use those computers? I loved my mac Plus! I had so many games!
A good computer lasts at least 20 years.

We used to make repair our shoes, shine them, care them.

I had the first liquid soap. Recently I bought another bottle. It was so bad that It still somewhere.

I received a Phillishave razor when i was 18. In 2002, I threw it as
I received my father 3 razors. Nice one, silent, but none lasted 5 years. My old one lasted near 40 years and It shaved well, I cleaned it regularily.

By the way, sunrays are stronger because of the ozone layer that is broken. It has nothing to do with Glbal Warming.

But, first, let'st get rif of gaz cars. Cities will be 50% healthier! Then replace coal with gaz or nuclear plants.

this is what we told for 30 years, but Reagan decided to declare economic war to Canada (unfortunately, he didn't) (1983). Now we are the biggest providers of gaz in the world. We even didn't realize that! But company stocks dividend are commonly 16-18% annually.

And god forced me to live despite Distilbene, a drug produced by USA so don't talk of god to me! If God existed, he would make my life shorter and make me die. But I'm still working just to spend time. I don't care about God and he leaves me in peace.

We don't need God, we need our goodwill, the courage of our fathers during WWII, the guts of a good President like Roosewelt
or Nixon (he is the one who ended Vietnam War and he is the one who travelled to China to end a silly cold war.

Ask Buffett! Even Gates or Steve Jobs. Perhaps they will accept the job of president. Or greenspan. I would trust them because they already decided to give their money. In fact, Jobs is not paid.

They will put the world on track if and if we accept to follow them.

Let ask them if they want the job of President.

How can you expect a politician to be a good environmentalist, a great economist, a Giant leader like Roosevelt? Nonsense!

Ok a President has great "helpers" but he is the President.

This is our war to civilize ourselves and we can't be bothered by problems like economy,convictions because we will make a new ecoomy, we will make new convictions, new ideas. We will work together because loosing this war can lead to the end of our species while we have all the knowledge, all the technology, the internet plus sattelites.

You Americans are a great People, you can do what's impossible and we will help you as far as we can. Except that some politicians need to retire!

You can do what your fathers did! We can do. We had more fun, more sex, more money than any of all our ancestors.

Greenhouses are too expensive even for rich countries like the US, so there is just no way a poor country, or the world in general, could afford to do the majority of agriculture in greenhouses. They will always be limited to special case, high cost products, like Orchids, in rich countries.

Sometimes in mid-iciness Lesotho has disorders with meals distribution considering the fact that the mountain roads come to be fully blocked by means of heavy snow.
