When you read put your attention OUT onto the very back of the room and try to hit the back wall with your voice.
It also helps if you face/confront the people you are reading to
rather than just the words on the page.
As for encouragement... well the queasy stomach is very common, they call it "stage fright" and the only way to get over it is to just go out there and do it. The more you do it the easier it gets. First time is always the worst.

UGH Public Speaking!! OK, what you have going for you here is that it's reading. Try this technique, It really is the only thing that has helped me do better with this. Do some visualization. Close your eyes and picture yourself up there speaking. Picture yourself being calm and speaking clearly. Visualize how that will make you feel to do this successfully...hang on to those positive feelings. Once you can see yourself doing a thing with success, It will be that much easier to tackle the task at hand!! I hope it goes well for you!!! Best wishes!

Just relax! Think about all the people that you have seen read in the past. They must have felt the same way you feel now. Are they that much better then you? (I don't know you but honestly don't think they are) Instead of feeling nervous think about how proud of yourself you will be when you are finished! You must be up there for a reason? Beleive in yourself! I'm sure others do!

Relax! Your fellow church members won't stone you if you mess up!!! That isn't really practiced anymore... You can try reading the passage in front of a mirror beforehand, that helps.

Just relax. If you get a few words wrong, you aren't going to hell. If the people are truly Christians, they will be more than willing to forgive you if you make a mistake. If they condem you for making a mistake, then they need to hear what you have to say more than you need to say it. Let God speak through you and those who WILL hear will get what they need. He will give you what needs to be said in the moment that you need to speak it. Good for you for having the courage to try.

Just remember that everyone watching you wants you to succeed! :) You can do it. I totally had a fear of public speaking and ended up having to run an entire workshop once. One thing I learned is that people are a lot less harder on you than you are on yourself. You're going to do a great job!

Say a prayer to the holy spirit to give you a sound tongue. Read with confidence for you believe in what you are reading. Your nervousness is natural and will go away once you begin to read and be joyful for the Lord looks upon you with favor.

tell them to read it themselves, or read something from the Koran, or something Christians don't know about.. or play an audio book by the H.H. Dalai Lama... or say a small quote, and ask them to think and meditate its meaning... Remember, you don't have to do it, don't feel bad about not doing it either, its all choice... you're not hurting anyone by not doing it... audio books alway are a good choice though...

just relay on god to give you the words to say. don't try to do it on your own because you can't but with god you can. just pray before you get up and take it nice and slow reading so every one can get the meaning out of what you are reading and you might get something different out of it too. I'll pray for you.good luck!
