Its your novel. You design the world however you want to.
It doesn't matter what is real. What matters is the clarity and consistency with which you create your world. I would advise choosing what fits best for your characters and their setting. It sounds like you have several good ideas for how curses could be broken on your world.
Don't worry about who says what. Just write what works and we'll follow you there!

According to scripture, you can. If a person is living under a curse, he's likely caused it himself. The Word says if you do certain things, you'll be blessed going in and going out. If you do other things, or do not do those things that cause blessings, you will be cursed going in and cursed going out (thats a Hebrew idiom that just means constantly). God doesn't wait for someone to zap with a curse, understand - he doesn't really have to do anything, because man causes his own curses - its a system that seems to run on almost autopilot!
I should mention that you should not listen to any of these yo yo's who will tell you they can put a curse on you. They are no more able to curse you than they are able to dig how goofy they are.
Satan himself has no power over you except what you will specifically allow. If I thought someone was attempting to put a curse on me, I would go directly to God himself in prayer and turn the whole thing around and stick it to that person, because there is real power to be had, its in the name of Jesus Christ, and that power really does exist. A person who has a real relationship with God has access to that power (in His name and in His will) and also has a wall of protection around them as described in the Book of Job.

No - you can get any holy person to break a curse. Usually various traditions have a reversal spell, or a way of forfeiting a curse with a prayer, or whatnot.
Also - not believing in the curse works wonders. But a lot of people seek help from their priest(ess) or other clergy person.

An arbitrary curse has no power:
"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come." - Proverbs 26:2
Those that are under the deserved curse of sin, however, can only be set free by Jesus:
"But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe." - Galatians 3:22

God can break a curse. If you beleive in Christ, you can break a curse yourself, or I should say that God can through you. A new curse only compounds the problem. Violence begets violence, hatred begets hatred, so you would just be continuing a vicious cycle if you were to curse someone because you feel you are cursed.

With Jesus Christ in our life, we are not under the curse of mankind, Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world

Break one? I find it simpler to just ignore one. A "curse" can't affect you, only the fear of it can.
