look i understand that we need to secure the borders that is a priority, i understand that coming here illegally is illegal, hence the term "illegal", i also understand that people should do it the right way. but..what i dont understand is people calling Illegal immigrants Criminals, people classifying them as criminals, well as far as i was concerned a criminal is someone who harms society, now i dont know about you guys out there but i havent been hurt by illegal immigrants, yes there are some that break the laws just as there are some American Citizens who break the laws and comit more horrific crimes, so why clasify them as criminals when about more than half of them havent even hurt society in any sort of way. anotehr thing i dont get is why do "anti Immigrant' people tend to use racial slurs and bash on people who just want to express their viewpoing? so please give me your viewpoint on this thank you

You most certainly have a clear view of the real picture....My hat off to you for speaking out in defense... and Proud of America you have hit the nail on the head in your answer.... I am a firm believer that we can not come to an educated guess without viewing all of the facts... if we have a welfare problem in the USA then look at it as a whole..... not just bits and pieces.... heavens lord the lady who was attempting to sue Michael Jackson for allegedly molesting her son was committing welfare fraud

Def. of criminal - guilty of crime.
Def. of crime - an action or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to the public welfare, morals or interests of the state and that is legally prohibited.
They have violated our immigration laws so yes, that makes them criminals. Any worse than other crimes? Yes and no. The argument typically given is that they just looking for a better life. I would like to know how committing a crime will start a better life? And disrespect for one law fosters disrespect for all laws. There are currently no statistics to support this idea but i personally am concerned how many more drunk drivers are on the road now due to our lax enforcement of immigration laws.
Have i personally been harmed by one of these illegal aliens? No, not yet. But how many other Americans have been already? Nearly three thousand were murdered in 1 day 5 years ago by ppl who were here on expired Visas.
And i don't think it is racist to desire that the law be enforced. It just makes sense.

So someone who breaks the law is only a criminal if it harms society. What if it harms just one person? Then thats okay?

What about the American citizens who can't get healthcare but yet illegal immigrants can go to the hospital and get anything they want for free? I guess thats not harming society either.

Yes there are American citizens who live off of welfare or don't pay taxes. Do you think adding millions of illegal immigrants who do the same thing will make things better or worse?

Hi, You are right on. The bottom line is those that discriminate and stereotype the illegals are prejudice against Mexicans. You don't hear them hollering about the Canadians, Romanians, English, etc. and there are many from other countries that cross our borders illegally. Do people realize that these illegals DO pay taxes, actually they pay more than their share. Those that work have taxes taken out of their paychecks. They do not file income tax returns for fear that the IRS will report them to the INS and they will be deported. People that are low income,( and most of the illegals are working at low income jobs), do not pay very much tax. They get most or all of the withheld tax returned to them. What happens to all the tax money that has been withheld from their paychecks? The government gets to keep it, that's what. So don't let anyone tell you that the illegals don't pay taxes. Granted their are some that work by standing on the corners waiting for someone to hire them and they get paid under the table, but in comparison there are way less of them. They do jobs that US citizens will not do. Our welfare and unemployment roles are proof of that. So tell me, how are the illegals hurting anyone personally? I will get off of my soapbox now and wish all of you a good day.

You see? I believe the same thing. While many of them came into the country illegally, A high percentage of them are wage earning self supporting people. If we say "all illegals are criminals" and we pass a law to that effect, then we will automaticaly make hundreds of thousands of people "criminals".

See, I think it would be a much better idea to find the people and help them to comply with the law. Yes, I know it would take a long time and a lot of work to bring them all into compliance but we could do it and it would be worth it. We would have that many more people who are earning an honest wage and paying taxes. On the other hand, if some refused to comply with the law and do not become productive in our country, then and only then should they be deported.

I have heard so many people who say that all illegals should be deported and then they would not steal our jobs. They say they would pay and extra quarter for a quart of strawberries. But in all acuality, if the Americans were the ones picking the strawberries they would demand union pay and benifits. Then the price of strawberries would skyrocket and no one would buy them. So at that point we would start getting our strawberris from other countries to keep the price down.

I'll bet that some of you are sitting there saying "another illeagal immagrant heard from". But you are wrong. I am Native American, so in all actuallity, all of you are illegal immigrants to me.....

Please check your facts. Most Illeagals are law abiding but there is a percentage of illeagals that come to this country, commit crime and tie up our just system. I am not opposed to Mexican immigrants coming in this country but I want them here legally. They tax our schools, hospitals, welfare system to the point of breaking. To me it is a very easy answer. They need to be legal or get out. In my opinion they are criminal. My German grand-parents became citizens the legal way and they show their american pride. Additionally, waiving Mexican flags on national television is horrifying. I hate to say it but, Love it or leave it.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT A VICTIMLESS CRIME
Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children.

Illegal immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds. The seminal study of the costs of immigration by the National Academy of Sciences found that the taxes paid by immigrants do not cover the cost of services received by them. We cannot provide high quality education, health care, and retirement security for our own people if we continue to bring in endless numbers of poor, unskilled immigrants.

Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees.

Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland.

crime-
1 : an act or the commission of an act that is forbidden or the omission of a duty that is commanded by a public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law; especially : a gross violation of law

If you commit a crime you are a criminal. It is unlawful to come into this country illegally, so therefore you are committing a crime and therefore are a criminal

this has been my same point when I answer questions about illegal vs. legal issues. they will come on here and "show" statistics say this and that, but when you throw the same statistics about americans on welfare, many are criminals, and some take advantage of the system- you end up getting a thumbs down. hipocrites is what they are. bottom line they are threatened by anyone (individual or culture) that is different than them or 5 shades darker than them. Some feel that because they are immigrants(wether they arrived legally or illegally) they they are less than their white counterparts. people will always be SCARED of the unknown or different- it's human nature to be scared but often times they end up showing their lack of moral fortitude and look like complete uneducated savages.
