I had one on my inner wrist in 1974 and insisted on removal. Now, all these years later I can still feel a nerve pull if I press on the area. The operation didnt do me any good. The ganglion also partially returned. I wish I had listened to all those who told me to leave it alone or hit it with a book. I will never again rush in for an unnecessary surgery.

I got one removed from a knuckle but it came back though not as big or annoying as the first one. The operation was done with a local anaesthetic and I was able to drive home immediately afterwards. There is hardly any scarring and I would only get one removed again if it was a nuisance.

OH MY GOODNESS! DON'T HIT IT WITH ANYTHING! This is very hipocritical of me, but i'd reccomend you get it surgically removed. I have one on my right wrist and i bump it using my mouse, driving, writing, EVERYTHING! i hate anything to do with doctors and the like, so i've been suffering... but it's so bad i'm now actually considering surgery, too! It will just continue to come back, whether you hit it or not! How painful! You're going to have to get it looked at... My dad had one cut off and hasn't had a problem since - and that was 25 years ago! Sounds like a good idea, huh? =)

You can either have it surgically removed or drained and then injected with a steroid. My daughters boyfriend was told this last week by his GP. The surgery was recommended as it is more successful than the drainage method.

You could get it surgically removed, but I know someone who had this done, & it messed their wrist up. I had one, too, but it came & went, & eventually went away altogether (without slamming it in a book/door, etc.), so be patient & see what happens.

Meantime, wear a bandage (or Tubigrip) round it to ease the pain, & use some pain-relieving gel or cream on it.

I have had one for 15 years. I've tried to "wack" it against something several times, with no luck. I also want mine removed-if it's bothering you and you can afford it, then have it removed. Mine is on my wrist, and it hurts me all the time, I can't bend it, or even touch it. I want mine gone.
