i only meet up with this guy by chance if we are out in town.hes has been chasing for ever!!!we have only met up 3 times.its difficult as we live in different towns.he hasnt asked me out on a date tho.we have kissed but he knows of my previous 6 year relationship

If you feel he is happy just to be with you and just having a decent conversation. If he tries to seduce either by trying to lead the conversation to naughty things or physically touching you, then definitely he's just after sex.

Make it clear to him that you're not just a booty call - if he wants to kick it with you, he has to take you out on a date first (or, preferably, he has to take you on at least 2 dates before you give him any)
If he agrees, then he's really into you - if not, he only wanted the sex
